09 Sport AT

Just traded in my '94 Ford Explorer Clunker for some cash down on a Tidewater Blue '09 Fit Sport AT on Tuesday. I love it so far! Something intoxicating about that new car smell. :-)

9 days ago, I C4C'd my $900 1996 Jeep Cherokee that needed a throwout bearing (clutch job) and a few other things. Picked up a Taffeta White MT Fit Sport. Just shy of 700 miles on the ODO - that will probably be 2500 miles within the next 3 weeks :-)

Right now the back is loaded with 2 full sets of wheels/tires, a 12" home powered subwoofer, a 12" car subwoofer in a box, 2 Kicker KX600.4 amplifiers, a 10 person tent, a 3-tier cat tree (disassembled), a network laser printer, and a large rolling duffel bag. Still have room to spare.

Bought my 2009 Blue Sensation Automatic Base Fit on Thursday (August 6th). I really wanted Tidewater Blue, but the Blue Sensation is a nice color too-- I personally am not a big fan of the spoiler, so I didn't want a sport, since most of the features were not things that I want or need. I am thinking about installing the USB connector and getting keyless entry myself, though.

I wanted the Automatic for the better gas mileage.

I cash-for-clunkered a 1996 Jeep Cherokee (also an automatic). Actually ended up getting more money for it through the program than we paid for it back in 2003! I'm so happy for this program, I'm a graduate student, so I would not have been able to afford a new car otherwise.

The Fit was $15363 (including destination charge) plus a 159 admin fee, and tax. Not bad at all. And free car washes for as long as I own the car! Woot! Gotta keep my new baby shiny.

New Taffeta White Fit

I'm a bit late in posting this message since I took delivery of my '09 Fit base on 29. June. It replaced a 1990 VW Golf GL. So far, I have accumulated 1051 miles. Driving has been mixed city and highway. The car came with a cargo tray, splash guards and wheel locks. I installed Honda carpets, the Honda cargo bay cover, the cargo net and the front tie downs for the cargo net since they do not come standard on the base model. I will install a rear bumper applique and door sill trim in the near future. I am also considering some other additions based on photos that I have seen on this forum. The car has performed beautifully. Mileage is stunning. I am running the 32 pound tire air pressures recommended by Honda and generally driving at normal speeds. I'm not taking any unusual measures to increase gas mileage. Yet, the car has consistently delivered mileage in the mid-30's. A bit over a week ago, I drove it from my home north of Dallas to Austin, a 442 mile round trip. On the way down driving at 65-70, mileage was 36.79. On the return trip, with slower speeds due to traffic, mileage was 40.85. This is excellent. I also cannot believe that it is not necessary to change the motor oil after break-in. Again, very impressive. Unfortunately, I had a bit of bad luck with the car this evening. While driving westward on the Bush Expressway, a white object came hurtling from beneath the car in front of us and bounced off the hood and then flew over the roof. After arriving at home, I found a shallow dent about the size of a quarter with an abrasion in it and another abrasion just behind it. I examined the roof and found, luckily, that there was no other damage. I intend to have this damage repaired and the car returned to like-new condition as soon as possible. Any suggestions for body shops in the DFW area would be appreciated. Too bad, the car didn't deserve it. I am delighted with my new Fit.

Traded in my Clunker Olds Aurora for a blue fit on the first weekend of the program. Absolutely love the car. Now I am looking for inexpensive ways to protect the cargo area.

I got my 2009 Fit Base Tidewater Blue Metallic MT on July 25, and couldn't be happier. Got $4500 through CFC for a '92 rusted-over Dodge Caravan. The end price was something like 11.5 without TTL and with a 100k extended warranty (not Honda). I've been lurking here since then trying to learn what I can, and I am VERY impressed by the knowledge and expertise of many of the members.

The Fit came with OEM splash guards and OEm cargo tray, and I plan on making quite a few additions, but I'm currently BROKE and the only thing I could afford was to do the aluminum gutter guard for the lower grill, which actually went really well, and I have had a few people comment that they seriously thought it was factory installed. Anyway here's a quick list of additions and mods I plan on performing:

High Priority:
OEM All-weather floor mats
OEM body side molding
OEM locking gas cap
OEM rear bumper applique
OEM Accord horn
Viper 5901 keyless/alarm/remote start
Aftermarket receiver (might install my old Pioneer DEH P7800-MP, but its USB reeks)
Cruise Control (anxiously waiting for Rostra's kit)
Hardwood trunk floor and rear seat back reinforcement (for "party mode" )

Medium priority:
Component speakers up front, matching non-component set in rear
Alloy wheels (eyeing the OEM gunmetal 16" alloys which I think look AWESOME)
OEM leather blue-stitched shift knob
OEM leather steering wheel cover (hopefully can find blue stitching for it)
OEM cargo cover
OEM chrome exhaust finisher
OEM door visors
JDM carbon fiber side mirror covers
Center console armrest (maybe OEM but probably the one from Zeta Products)
Zeta Products door sill trim (WAY nicer looking than the OEM ones )
LEDs all around

Low priority:
Rear sway bar (maybe the Progress bar)
Cold air intake
bigger battery
Tint
OEM fog lights
HID fog and head lights, 3k and 6k respectively
OEM steering wheel audio/cruise buttons (if possible)
Custom roof console with radar detector mount, glasses holder, map lights, and alarm antenna

Nice to finally see a list of the things I'm considering... Longer than I expected :0

CFCed my (once) luxurious 93 Roadmaster Wagon for a Storm Silver basic Fit. Only complaint is the avg mpg indicator, which reads 2-3 mpg better than reality. How do those things calculate the amount of gas used?

C4C'd my old 4-Runner w/ 220k plus for '09 Spt Wht 5M on 7/31. Love it!! Sooo purdy w/ after-mkt one shade lighter than limo tint. Rcvd Eclipse Sunshade & will install this wknd. Getting sunroof installed next wk for 1200 and Venture Shld on all relevants incl head lights for 280. Will post mileage figures after driven couple months - so far w/ 500+ mi - so very good @ 43.89mpg on 1st 'full' tank - manual calc. Tip! - shift when on flat surfaces @ 2k in all gears - does not lug motor, keep hwy speeds low - 60 max for me, time lights and all that other good stuff...
