I wish I could help you, but I notice that you're just a tad west of metro Detroit. I've got a TW Sport MT coming next month through a local dealer, and I'm getting the car for $200 over invoice. My family and I have purchased 4 or 5 Hondas through the same salesperson, so I'm sure that had something to do with it. That said, it seems like I'm hearing about "market adjustments" more frequently on the west coast. Knowing what I know, I'd have a hard time paying anything over MSRP. Good luck!

if u can wait then you wont have to pay that dealer markup. also shop around there are plenty dealerships which sell at msrp. dont let them take advantage of you. me, im giving it a couple months for the supply/demand deal to chill.

There is no reason to pay over sticker. There are plenty of dealers willing to sell at MSRP. My TW Sport Manual is being built in a week or so. I would think there are a batch of them being made then? Put your name on one. Should be here in late October.

If you're having a problem finding the car for MSRP, I suggest trying Costco's Auto Buying Program.
My dealer I found through the program, told me that the deal I would get was $300 over invoice (about $300 under MSRP), and would move to the front of any line there was to get the car.
I would also suggest paying the extra money for the Costco Executive Membership. It's more money for the yearly fee, but you can downgrade it later if you want. You'll get more back from the auto purchase through them with it though.

You had more success with Costco than I did. The dealer to which the program directed me said they couldn't quote me a price through the program, but that it probably wouldn't save me any money compared to their regular price, due to the demand for Fits.
Their prices were high anyway, and they wanted a $1000 nonrefundable deposit, so I walked. Found a dealer willing to sell a Taffeta White Sport AT at MSRP ($17,560).

You should be able to do better than $2K over MSRP. For a silver Sport MT, I paid MSRP + $300 for unwanted perma-plate and $55 documentation fee.
I suggest going to dealer web sites (and be willing to drive a bit) and emailing them for a quote. Eventually I got a call from a place that had exactly what I wanted. My hunch is that the MT is in less demand, so a dealership that has one may have somewhat more incentive to give you a good deal. But that's just a guess.

be patient
Get online quotes and fight for a lower price. These are the first weeks of availability of the 09s. You may end up paying $500 over MSRP (supply/demand) but 2K is too much. Chill out and be patient. Good things come to those who wait.

hey guys, thanks for all of the pos. feedback! I really appreciate it. I guess this particular model is prtty rare, almost no dealers had it comin in. But, i did get lucky, I picked up the car a couple nights ago and walked away right under 20 otd, but that included the 5-star ext. warranty, gap, lifetime lojack, door visors, trunk liner, truck cover, mats, etc... Yea, it was a lil high, but i'm happy as can be and figured i'd be payin a premium for this car in this color anyways! Off to the canyons! lolz pics soon to come!
