Hot plastic smell when we push the car into vetch.

Im actually having this problem also..i have an 08 BOM which i bought back in june..have about 2k miles on it now..when ever i drop it into S mode and play with the paddles i do smell like somethings burning i thought it was coming from the brakes with all the spirited driving. Wonder if us having this problem should bring it into honda about this problem.

i had that problem the first 3k miles, but i realized it was the tires they were smellin like burnt rubber, b/c i hit 110...believe it or not i wasnt trying to get up there, driving on the 210 freeway sometimes makes u feel like ur going slow

hm, i haven't noticed anything like this on my car. if it's manual, it's a possibility you're not very good with the clutch. if it's automatic, maybe you're pushing it too hard? no idea really, but this thread is going nowhere with all this yabba-dabba-doo about vtec/vetech/vtech haha

Now that we have 1000 miles on the car we are pushing it some into VTEC with AC on and air is recirc we get a hot plastic smell. The smell goes away after you stop the hard acceleration. It smells like it comes from the AC vents.
It does not fill the car up with this smell but you can tell it is there.
Has anyone experience this or know what it is?

1. brake pad smell when brakes used extensively
2. leftover shipping protective coatings which get on exhaust components and are burned off by high temperature..
If its truly coming from the air vent (shut it off and does it go away?) then the 'protective' coatings or something else is in your air intake or hvac. could be just a dead cockroach. what, you didn't know shipping had such things? If the smell happens when heater used but not a/c thats a logical source.
good luck

I'm going with door number 2 - I had a Murano that for the first 1k or so miles, it had this smell. Finally quit after it was all burned off.

It should go away after couple thousand miles. Manufactures spay on new cars with a protective film coating in the engine bay area. It's for prevention of salt in the air from the ocean during shipping. After some hard driving it'll burn off, it's normal, I smell it on all my new cars for the first couple thousand miles.
