Steering-wheel mounted audio controls

Steering-wheel mounted audio controls
I know this option is only available on the '09 Fit Sport Nav trim, but here in Canada we have no Navi trim so steering-wheel mounted audio controls are not even an option for us. What is the possibility that I can have this added to my potential Fit Sport as an aftermarket upgrade? Would the non-Nav Sport be able to have this if I swapped the steering wheel out with a Nav one? Are there any third-party audio retailers that add this option to existing cars? Thanks!

if the wires are there i see no problem
ingetting the wheel.
but i don't think it will work with
the oem unit though. you might have to
go aftermarket.
imho it just seems so not worth it.
i have controls on my camry and never
use them. lol
also you are with-in arms reach of the
head unit. so there no point
but to each his or her own.

It's true I'm probably making a bigger deal out of it than it is, but I have been so spoiled with the steering wheel mounted audio controls on my 05 Mazda3 that I almost feel I can't live without them! I probably can, but was hoping it might be an "easy" upgrade for me to add them later down the road.

The reason I like the audio controls on the steering wheel is this - when I'm listening to music and the passenger starts to talk, I have to reach over and turn down the volume in front of them quite obviously. In my mind, that can make them feel like they're interrupting the music. Then when the conversation is over, I noticeably reach over and turn the music up again. I would much prefer having the volume controlled more inconspicuously by my left thumb when dealing with passengers. It's a psychological thing. A small detail, but obviously one I've thought about.
Anyway, I was hoping we could purchase the buttons and just "plug them in," or at worst buy the steering wheel, as you said. But as Niko suggested, it might not work with the OEM radio. I hope someone can find out conclusively. If it's an easily do-able mod, a lot of people would be happy.

I too love the steering wheel controls. My teenage son likes to turn up the radio so unbearably loud, and he's too strong to battle with. So whenever he turns up the volumn, I would use my steering wheel buttons to turn them way down. We would often engage in a constant battle over the volumn controls - and thank god for the steering wheel controls I didn't get into any accidents from either the loud music or struggling w/ him over the regular volumn knob.
