faster? if you can feel 9 extra horsepower, you have an amazingly tuned butt dyno.
better handling? old fit is still faster around a track (even with 9 less hp)
better equipped? with what? 10 cupholders instead of 5?
more comfortable? doubt it. While exterior dimensions have grown several inches, passenger volume is only up by .9 cubic feet.

In the end, you are the one that has to live with the grazing rhinoceros. Classic fit FTW
Faster - more hp, flatter torque/hp curve, shorter gearing outweigh the less than 50lb weight gain... you lose

Better handling - reviews we've seen so far indicate less body roll, more neutral handling, and better steady state grip; but go ahead and fall back on a YouTube video if you want; if i wanted to track a car, it wouldn't be the Fit

Better equipped - this is not even debatable

More comfortable - seats with better support, dead pedal, telescoping steering wheel, more room in footwell, driver's arm rest

...delusional...

Dear haters,

i'm very sorry that my presence has pained you so. i got to meet some of my 08 bretheren, and they seemed more than happy to pass the torch.

there was a very nice vbp that waddled up next to me and told me to ignore comments on how the aftermarket would take forever to make parts for me.

"i don't know why they defended me when they slapped all their mods on when i wasn't all that fast to begin with, but then are doggin you now." he said very politely.

I am also sorry that i eclipse my gd3 bretheren in most ways. i too am shocked that honda made me faster, better handling, safer, and more upscale. But i don't appreciate the grazing rhino comments, as 50lbs is pretty much next to nothing. thats how much 2 doors add on the weight of my uncle, honda civic si 4 door, compared to his wife, honda civic si 2 door.

you must watch americas next top model and say things like "oh she is SOOO fat!" i truly pity you my dear.

i'm sorry i have lost my 'jdm' ness as well. but i thought that if a car made in mexico by ford was still and 'american' car, i thought having a honda badge would be enough to prove my heritage of a line of fine automobiles, such as the fit you drive now.

are not some of the fastest honda's, (such as my long lost cousins ek and eg), made in mostly in america too? i guess you had forgotten that.

i'm sorry that our personalites don't mesh. but unfortunately, just because you don't like the way i look doesn't mean that i'm a bad car. it really doesn't.

i know its hard to accept but...well, you'll get over it, you look like a big boy. (girl.)

come buy and see me sometime, maybe i can take you for a ride.

Sincerly,

2009 honda fit. (ge8)

p.s. pass the hateraide.

Wow...

I never really liked it before judging from the press photos, but now that we've got some "real" pictures, the car is definitely growing on me. I'll have to go down to the local dealership later this week and see if they have any in. Maybe even get a test drive in if I'm lucky.

Probably not going to be trading in my '08 though, unless I'm absolutely blown away seeing it in person.

Haha, awesome post! Just the thing to illustrate how close-minded some of the posts are that I've seen around here. While I can understand the love that Fit owners feel for their purchases (as I myself own an 08 Milano Red Sport AT), I also understand that cars evolve, and change according to market demands. I am very interested to try out the new Fit, and while I'm not interested in selling my current car for a new 09, it'll be fun to see just how they've changed the car.

Regardless, this car will still sell like hotcakes. Here's looking forward to seeing fewer SUV's and raised pickups on the road!

You're an idiot.

The new Fit don't look that bad judging by those pictures by Chris but I still eat up the first gen like cereal. Not a big fan of what Honda's making their new cars look like, especially Acuras.

Oh well, my Fit that's been in production for the last seven years and crafted to perfection sounds a whole lot better than a second-year second gen if we're excusing looks and just comparing them. The engine is probably nice, though. No hate.

Also unlike FITdragon, I hope people continue to drive SUVs and trucks and waste money. I don't want to see more Fits on the road. Don't want the Fit to be the next Civic.

(EDIT) Oh and I called it couple months back that there would be a 1st gen vs. 2nd gen rivalry, happens to all cars. I assume FitFreak dies partially today.

Ok.
I've been following this thread since this afternoon.

Yes we all have our opinions on the new model but, can we not turn this release into something that splits the forum into '07/'08ers v.s. '09's?

Please!

It's not like they took the fit and turned it into a Hummer for cryin out loud!

I'm still holding my opinion until I get to try one.

Lets wait for some 0-60 numbers before we start arguing about speed. The new 185 series tires should make for blistering off the line acceleration... And yes, shorter gear ratios are just what the MT fit needed, because 4500 rpm at 75mph is not enough....

"reviews" > professional track testing.... yep

Better equipped? I would expect at least a driver's armrest and a dead pedal on a $18k+ econocar...

I'm not saying its a bad car, MY PERSONAL OPINION IS its uglier and overall not better than the old one.

BTW let's stay civil and keep the little personal attacks to ourselves

That red is a pretty interesting looking red, TOOL. :b

Also while the constant blame is put on the 1st gen owners of Fits, please look at the comments made defending the GE8 by potential buyers. Not the most neutral approach to it, so you fools are just as guilty.

GE8Freak.net isn't taken yet.

Nice pics fANTOM!

JDMChris had some good ones, but the sunlight kind of killed the details.

Being a little hypocrite, I have the At MR '07 Sport, I like my stock wheels better, I don't like how many "spokes" this one has.

Thats the only thing I can solidly comment on.

Might be a little off-topinc, but please explain where the terms "GD3" and "GE8" come from? I understand what they refer to, but I don't understand their origins.
