D'oh! They've been mostly sold for the last month, dude. The only ones I found in Texas were base MTs at a dealer that jacked me around and that I wouldn't buy from if they were the last Fit dealer on the planet. Those are probably gone now too.

The '08 stopped being produced before the '09s started in production. It's used from here on out if you want an '08, I'm afraid....

I like how many people are like "damn the stereo buttons are different, so I'm gonna cancel!" Without even trying it out, people are geeking out.

I certainly understand the bitterness of the 1st gen fit owners. Without trying to PO too many of you I'll still say, "get a job." Let those of us who have one ordered be. It's one thing to say you dislike them, but to be all like oh the 09's are aweful rabble rabble rabble is rather annoying. The 09 is different, let the people who will eventually own both comment.

These people were not going to buy one in the first place.

Nice pics thanks.

I'm holding my final opinion until I can check one out in person. I'm sticking with my 07 sport without a doubt, but still. Right now the interior shots just look odd, because of what I'm used to seeing. Congrats to those waiting, your one step closer to getting your FiT, oh wait it's FIT now.

Faster? More hp is for sure but more weight also.
Better handling? Chris did say the suspension felt stiffer, but I don't see that making it more comfortable.
Better equipped? I'll agree on that.
Either way you look at it, it's still a sub 15k econo-box, which I for one got for gas mileage.

I will of course hold my final judgement until I drive the '09, but there is no way that you can argue with any one of txmatt's points if every single one of the auto journal reviews is to be believed.

The '09 in STOCK form is faster, handles better, is better equiped and is more comfortable. You may not like the looks or the interior layout, but there is no denying that the '09 will be a better car (compared to prior years) for 95%+ of Fit owners out there. On a forum like this it can be deceiving, but such a small percentage of owners actually care about mods at all - the average Fit owner probably doesn't even know what that word means!

oh yeah i totally agree with you, most people don't buy a fit to mod it
it's all just personal perception of things

to each his own i suppose

i'm interested in new fits that have been rear-ended and totalled. i want to find the new L15A7 motor and manual transmission and try figure out if the cylinder head can bolt on (using the new ECU too of course) or how easy the whole motor and transmission swap could be.

Did you happen to check the tire pressures before you drove? Most new cars ship with very high pressures for the boat/truck ride...this might have skewed your perception of the ride if it weren't checked and brought down to normal levels (although amongst this crew, obscenly high tire pressures are the norm!).

My dealer just emailed me and said they did have one to test drive tomorrow! I will take my camera for some pictures. We'll see if the hype is true.

sounds to me like you waited too long and now cant buy an 08

faster? if you can feel 9 extra horsepower, you have an amazingly tuned butt dyno.
better handling? old fit is still faster around a track (even with 9 less hp)
better equipped? with what? 10 cupholders instead of 5?
more comfortable? doubt it. While exterior dimensions have grown several inches, passenger volume is only up by .9 cubic feet.

In the end, you are the one that has to live with the grazing rhinoceros. Classic fit FTW

Those silver Fit pictures are getting me antsy!

I've been on a waiting list for a Silver Fit w/Navi since June and I CAN'T WAIT! Mine is coming mid-late Sept (had a build date of Aug 21). I'll shoot my sales guy an email to see if they have any in to test drive, though..

I called my dealer 2 days ago after reading about the early release rumors.

Me: "I heard a rumor the 09's might be coming in early, like this week."

him: "No, probably 2nd week of September. I just got the VIN for yours"

Me: "Huh. Ok."

Today he calls and says he is shocked that 1 has arrived in Sport w/AT. I'll be checking it out later.
Hopefully my SSM Sport MT will show up sooner!!

I'm loving it

I think the 09 is sweet. I love how they've incorporated the Si nose into the sport model. I personally have never been a fan of the 'folded' look on front spoilers and skirts.

On the mods issue, hasn't a J-Spec version of this car been out quite a while? I would think that would accelerate some types of mods at least.

sub 15k? lol don't know about that.

But anyway, I really like these 09s. I still love my 07 and coudn't give it up, at least not for another year or more. But I wouldn't call the new one ugly at all. I think it's pretty cool. A bit more expensive and maybe not quiteee as good on gas, yeah maybe. But not ugly.

Couple of my favorites are the new USB plug and standard LED brake light in the window!

too much bashing going on. come on, it might not be to your taste, but at least it's still a fit.

9 hp is about 8.26% increase, a good butt dyno should be able to notice that. the gearing on the MT and the DOHC i-vtec probably make the power more usable.

I just had to quote for the troof. Well, that and because it's my phrase

I really liked the interior to begin with and hated the exterior, but seeing real pictures of the USDM FIT has changed that. Now I think that the exterior is okay, but there is something funny with the interior. Hopefully the local Honda dealer will get some '09s in soon so that I can check everything out in person. Until then, I'll reserve my judgement.
