Listen guys, I believe I was the first to actually call the '09 platypus because of the front end. For the record, I was also one of the greatest opponents to the looks of the '09 and even stated that I would never consider it.
Well, I am here to eat everything I stated about it! Again for the record, yes the nose is too long on the picture, but pictures are 2D and seeing it in person gives you entirely new impression in 3D!
I was driving by Dublin Honda yesterday at 2:45pm when a truck pulled in with a red and black sport model! I flipped the bitch and followed the red Fit from the truck to the back of the servicing area. I greeted the driver before he even got out and quickly filled the driver seat. One of the sales managers approached and said to me: "What took you so long to come and check it out?". I laughed! He was wondering how I knew. I told him to to check FF.net when he needs to find something out about the Fit! ROFL!
Car is awesome! It is improved in every aspect. It feels and looks more luxurious. Materials are better than 07-08 as well as fit and finish. Turn signals and buttons are more soft and tactile than previous gen. This car actually fits, in my opinion, between a Civic and Accord in feel and quality. Telescopic wheel makes all the difference in the world. Si steering wheels is a class or two above previous one. Cloth on the seats is nicer and better quality. Seating position is terrific now! REAL dead pedal is awesome! You can actually push against it with full weight to shift yourself in the seat! LOL! Armrest is great because it moves with the seat unlike first gen.. JDM type. Yes I wish it had a storage under it and to be a bit wider so passenger can use it too. Storage not because 09 lacks it but because it is more convenient to access it while driving than two glove boxes up front. 10 cup holders?! Well I thought it was an overkill (and originally even wondered where was a port-a-potty to go along with it), but inside doors you can place bottles! Personally I rarely drink anything but water, so I like it! Dashboard and instruments are as if removed from a top of the line Acura! I can keep going on and on, but you get a picture!
This model is well worth the extra $$$. It shows everywhere! Why is VSA available only with NAV? Well because most are not willing to spend the money on it anyway and the ones that do can afford to dish out for the combo! Simple as that! Yes it costs more than some Civics, but for a good reason. It is exactly what market wonts! Small car is now "cool" and "in" and people that have money for more expensive models are flocking to it. They demand luxuries and Honda is happy to oblige! Nothing wrong with that. As much as it drives most of us nuts, younger drivers are minority on the market for the Fit segment. Again in my opinion, my 07 is cheap in comparison. It is not worth the money I paid for. My 1990 CRX Si had more quality built into it! 09 is worth the money they demand for it! Just not extra $4K Dublin Honda is asking for it! After all they asked $10K premium on Mugen Civic! ROFL!
They offered me "top dollar" for my 07 Fit as a trade on this 09, but I laughed when I asked them to forget about $4K mark up and they started defending themselves!
Don't complain about current pricing for 09! We were doing it for 07 when it hit the showroom floors as well. Prices will level eventually! Honda has more capacity at the current plant in Japan while leaving 5 more plants in Asia as a back up. No word on what will be built in new plant in Indiana for surre.
How much I like this 09?! Well I will be switching to a manual Sport with nav sometime next year or sooner when prices stabilize! How much did my wife like it? She is going to switch to a dark blue A/T Sport with Nav from an 06 Civic EX sedan, too!
I am 37 years old and my wife is 30. We are not interested in building race cars out of the Fit. Hers will stay stock, while I will do similar things I did to my 07! Our newborn loves our 07 Fit, but even at 6 weeks old she screamed until we put her inside an 09! Stroller, car seat, bags, they all fit great in a Fit. We prefer to use it as a baby transporter over a civic. Taller roof line is great for lifting the baby car seat.

Stop hating this car while scavenging it out for parts for 07-08. While first gen. strikes me as a fun toy, 2nd gen is a serious contender for luxury as well as fun. While first gen was a love on first sight for all of us, give the 2nd gen a chance. It will grow on you trust me!

BTW, according to the truck driver, every dealership is receiving only one Fit at the moment! Next delivery will be after an all new hybrid is delivered, again only one per dealer. It will be a while before any stock is built at your local dealers. They can post multiple cars on their web sites, but they will not have them. They are just building up the hype.

Love the adendum price mark up! Get used to them, they will be with us for a while!
lmfao. almost 22k for a fit and it doesnt even have the vsa and navi? im sorry, but thats just stupid.

Still haven't seen one in Augusta. The dealership here only has a used 07 base auto...BOO.

I'm hitting Atlanta this weekend, but I still doubt I'll see any.

This is at honda of bellevue. The 09 actually looks way better in person than any other pictures i have seen. I just got my 08 a couple of weeks ago and im happy i did although the new one looks really aggressive.

Nice pics! Makes me happy I got the silver, althought the vivid blue (cant remember what they are calling it now) looks real nice from the pics i've seen of it.

That curve ends what looks to be maybe 4-6" ahead of the wheel opening.

When you see a direct profile shot, all you see is the distance from wheel opening to the front bumper under the grill and that distance look long. When you see it from above like this picture, or assumedly when standing next to the car, you see that curve/taper in the bumper and realize the entire front isn't as long as it looks in profile shots.

"i don't know why they defended me when they slapped all their mods on when i wasn't all that fast to begin with, but then are doggin you now." he said very politely.

I am also sorry that i eclipse my gd3 bretheren in most ways. i too am shocked that honda made me faster, better handling, safer, and more upscale. But i don't appreciate the grazing rhino comments, as 50lbs is pretty much next to nothing. thats how much 2 doors add on the weight of my uncle, honda civic si 4 door, compared to his wife, honda civic si 2 door.

you must watch americas next top model and say things like "oh she is SOOO fat!" i truly pity you my dear.

i'm sorry i have lost my 'jdm' ness as well. but i thought that if a car made in mexico by ford was still and 'american' car, i thought having a honda badge would be enough to prove my heritage of a line of fine automobiles, such as the fit you drive now.

are not some of the fastest honda's, (such as my long lost cousins ek and eg), made in mostly in america too? i guess you had forgotten that.

i'm sorry that our personalites don't mesh. but unfortunately, just because you don't like the way i look doesn't mean that i'm a bad car. it really doesn't.

i know its hard to accept but...well, you'll get over it, you look like a big boy. (girl.)

come buy and see me sometime, maybe i can take you for a ride.

Sincerly,

2009 honda fit. (ge8)

p.s. pass the hateraide.

With all of the new fits at the dealers, somebody needs to take a cup full of gravel and throw it at the hood to see if the paint has improved any.

I cant believe some dealers are marking them up! I already have the price for mine from the dealer MSRP+dest. I cant wait for it to get here, now the aftermarket needs to step it up and get some coilovers to us!

I looked that up after reading your post. I called both dealerships. They don't have them. They must just be listing the ones on order. Bowie did know what colors and such were coming in.

Still no NAV/VSA units

I've been watching all the pictures closely. Kudos to you guys who are taking the time to post them!

Unfortunately none of the units have NAV yet. And I have no build date for my NAV/VSA BBP 09 Sport AT - I wonder if there is a coincidence?

I'm planning on heading down to my local dealer today to test drive an 09 - my salesman claims they just got three in - all silver.

I seem to be seeing a lot of silver and not one BBP. Have any salespeople given a reason?

I dig the new wheels... I'm not certain but, I thought I read somewhere that the bolt patern changed... Can anyone confirm/correct me on that??? If they're x100s, I might have to buy a set...

They are still 4x100, same offset as prior years as well, IIRC.
