09 Fit build date

storm silver metalic Sport AT build date 10/10/08 estimated arrival end of Oct-early Nov

I put a $500. deposit for a '08 ssm sport AT and the dealer was not able to get one for me. While waiting for him to find one, I found this web site and after reading all the posts, I decided to wait for the upgraded '09.
My first purchase of a new car (widowed senior citizen) so I'm really excited!

should be here in 2 weeks
Just got a call from the dealer, my Fit is in Montana on the rail. Will be here next Wednesday!!! Also he noted that the Japanese built cars are completely covered in a gel that hardens to protect any painted surface from contamination, so I don't think "rail dust" is an issue for Fit owners, provided this info is true.

I hope your dealer is right, but my Fit was "on the rail in Montana" on 9/20 and still has not been delivered to Covington, VA. It moved real quick to Chicago, but has been sitting there (actually at Blue Island, IL) for more than two weeks

This is good news. I heard the build date for my TW M/T was actually 9/22.. At any rate he didn't have an ETA earlier in the week, but said the ones build 9/18 had eta's from 10/9 to 10/12. I wouldnt be surpised if mine will be here sometime mid next week too!

So my dealer called to tell me that he has a "mold date" of 9/29. I asked him what that means, and he said that it is the car's birthday. Has anyone else heard the term mold date? Is that like, the beginning of production?

My dealer told me a build date of 9/12 but we're still waiting for delivery. The scheduled delivery has been pushed twice now.

It's a Sport Blackberry Pearl 5MT, which I'm under the impression is relatively rare. My S2000 should be sold on Tuesday and then we'll be without a car, so it looks like we've gotta get a rental to drive the 200 miles to the dealership!

I really can't wait. $100 under MSRP.

First post! (Been lurking and a regular/OG on s2ki)

Oh and I intend to buy all the accessory goodies (online)
- Door sills
- all weather mats
- ambient lighting kit
- rear bumper applique/protector thing
- cargo tray and organizer
- touchup paint

Then it's off to the shop for some 38% tint and possibly clear bra!

By the way has anyone gotten an 09 and know the chassis code given to it GE 7/8/9?
How do you get a "Build Date"? Are you talking about walking into a dealership and selecting your car but they don't have it. And so the dealer calls Honda and Honda proceeds to build it for you?

How do you arrange for this "build-to-order" method?

It's not that you have to arrange it, it's because they don't have enough inventory to just go on the lot and pick one of many Fits. This is the way Honda tends to do things if they can - it's almost a made-to-order concept. You go to your dealer and pick out your trim line, leave a deposit, the dealer orders your car, Honda Japan build your car (and many others at the same time). The dealer callsl you with your VIN number, and delivery date. I suppose it gives people a custom feel, which can be a good thing. The dealers will tell you that if you give a deposit and then change your mind about the car, they can keep the deposit, but I don't think they would hold you to that, since they can sell the car in any case. But most people who order a Fit already know they want one and they don't change their mind.

Ah, I'm getting impatient. My build date was 9/9, and still no delivery. Every week, the story is, "it'll be here next Friday". I'd rather know the real date than be led on.

Have you pushed them to see if an identical car is at another dealer or on it's way? My dealer wasn't really looking for another car out there until I let him know I needed a car as soon as possible (I was borrowing a car). I got mine a month before the one I ordered was to come in.

My build date was 9/12 and I received the car on 10/13. The dealership promised they'd call when the car "hit US soil" but the only call I got was "we have your car here at the dealership" .. Depending where you live, it's probably already in the states.

it only covers the roof, the hood and part of the fenders, for sun and fallout mostly
