2013 airbag failed to deploy
Howdy,
Wife and toddler we in an accident, thankfully seem ok, but I'm curious about other Fit owners experience with air bag deployment.
The front bumper was ripped completely off, and there is an obvious bend in the frame, but the airbags didn't deploy.
Seems like they should have in this case?
Also, I'm presuming this is totaled... thoughts?
Thanks!

I thought you had to have a front impact for the air bags to deploy. Looks like the car may have been side swiped in the front corner in order to rip the bumper off.
I recently hit a tractor trailer tread on the interstate going 70 mph. Impact was in front, below the passenger side fog light, damaging the front cap/bumper & both fog light housings. My air bags did not deploy. I’m glad because if they had, my car would be totaled. Air bags are very expensive to replace.

She hit a car in its side and then spun it out, which is why things got a little twisted.
I was just kind of stunned to see the steel bumper ripped off but no airbag deployment.
I assume it's totaled based on the frame warping alone, but who knows.

Weird to hear that happened to the Fit, but glad everyone was safe!
Years ago I did go through and replace one of my front impact sensors.
Judging by your photo -- even with your front bumper reinforcement bar ripped off, your front impact sensors are still intact.
Impact sensors measure the intensity of a collision and only deploy airbags once the forces are beyond a certain threshold, perhaps that didn't happen in this accident.
