Installed aftermarket head unit, powers on, but no sound

Hey y’all!
today i installed a Sony XAV-AX1000, in my 2011 sport (w/o nav) using the metra dash kit & wiring harness, along with the antenna wire.

the unit is turning on just fine, i can control my phone through car play, no weirdness there,

but there is 0 sound.

on older cars i’ve owned there was an external stock amp that required a signal to turn on,
but the wire to do that is usually a blue/white, and there isn’t one on this metra wiring harness.
it looks like everything is accounted for, and i’ve been fussing with it all day.
let me know if you have thoughts, because i’d love to move onto my door speaker install after this
haha,
thanks!

Did you do any work on the speakers before encountering this problem?

nope, waiting to replace the speakers until the head unit is sorted so i’m not creating more potential points of failure before i’ve finished troubleshooting the first one.

i’m not trying to install an aftermarket amp or anything yet, so i’d really like to avoid manually wiring from the RCA outs to the doors, and am trying to just use the stock speaker wiring currently.

*edit* just got an idea,
maybe i could find a speaker wire to RCA adapter and bypass my wiring harness with the speaker wires and run em right out the RCA lines on the back.

If wired correctly, it's possible you have a bad head unit. You can bench test with a battery and an old speaker or a volt meter, see if you are getting DC voltage from one of the speaker lines
