2009 Manual Transmission Troubleshooting
Hi all,
I have a 2009 manual transmission. I bought it used but the mechanic (that we trust) said it was fine.
Yesterday I was at a stoplight and when I released the clutch/added gas, it made this HORRIBLE grinding noise. I can't figure it out. My parking brake was NOT engaged and I (don't think I) was doing anything different than how I normally drive. Usually if my timing is bad, I will stall out but it didn't happen. It just made the noise and jerked forward horribly.
Any idea on what might be wrong? My dad theorized I added to much gas but did not let up on the clutch fast enough. But I'm not sure. I did just drive it across the country, but my oil life is still good (70%).

Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question....but is it possible you just grinded the gears a bit not habing depressed the clutch enough, or letting off too early before you were fully in gear?
Otherwise....cluld be a clutch issue maybe? How many miles on the car?
