I know one way to find out. take off the kick panel under the dash there and see what it's wired to. It may be attached to a labeled box. It may be the extreme button.

Guesses:
An immobilizer someone added?
Powers an accessory added, could be lights, or anything else?
Or it was a switch for something, but that something was since removed, and now it does nothing?
My car has a hidden switch, I wouldn't have found for a long time, had the previous owner not told me about it. If parking in a risky area, the switch disables the fuel pump, making it harder to steal.

Looks very much like my throttle controller on my Fit.
Seems strange that a prev owner would remove everything but the 'user controller'

Ejector Seat Button. In case you're on a first date that's not going well.

Well, just because we don't have a use for an ejector seat at present doesn't mean one wouldn't come up eventually. I'm certain there's a situation to which such a seat would be a perfect solution. You need to get that switch rewired.

@GER42 We are trying to maintain a hopeful outlook on this forum. You're only 79 years old. Let's not rush to the conclusion that anything is over. Not yet.

EDIT: Besides, you're driving a Fit for crying out loud. That alone shows a commitment to things not being over.

Apparently that's an aftermarket KARR alarm immobilizer. They're usually installed at the dealership before the car is sold, to protect the car from being stolen.
