Hello, my AC now only works on setting 4 and it does make a noise located underneath then glove box. How do I know if this is the fan that needs to be changed or the blower motor resistor? First the 1st setting went out. Then the 2 and 3. The fan only works in setting 4 now. Any idea of the part needed to be changed? I can test parts if needed. The car is a Honda fit 2009 sport trim manual with 220k on it. Thanks!

Based on what you are describing definitely sounds like blower motor resistor. Resistor assembly is located behind the glove box on the left side and mounted on the firewall. Given the age and miles of the car would not be a bad idea to replace blower motor as well. You can get aftermarket parts for both relatively cheap.

I recall blower working on only 1 and 4 is a specific component fault. I cant remember which fault but this dude sounds like he knows. TYC and I think Four Seasons make mid-price blowers for the fit. I've got a TYC myself and it's alright. Easy job.
I'd also give a thumbs up for blower and resistor thingy, and raise you one new cabin filter! They're all in the same spot and not hard to swap. DON'T get the arm n hammer cabin filter. Got froggy quick.

I used the TYC blower for my 09 Fit and it’s doing just fine two years later. Also did the resistor at the same time. Aftermarket parts for both under $100. Yes, as mentioned above change the cabin filter at the same time. I have always just used the basic cabin filter and changed it once a year.

Coming from having set up a small (14gal) aquarium and also playing with air purifiers, I started to appreciate charcoal and activated carbon filtration medias for their ability to remove nasty odors. The only product I was able to locate for the GE8 that mimicked the concept was a filter that boasted arm n hammer's odor eliminating baking soda. Trash, I say! Lasted a week before souring like unrefrigerated milk.
A standard filter is the way to go 'til (if ever) better media hits the scene, though I do suppose that odor mitigating filtration could hide the most obvious symptom of a gunked up filter. I suspect that as AC filters clog up, restricting air flow, air gets too cold or something (perhaps due to increased pressure), develops condensation in the system, leading to general froggery. Sorry for drawing out the thread 😂
