Differences in OEM Fit navigation systems
Does anyone know what the differences are (if any) between the various generations of the Honda Fit navigation system? Visually and technologically speaking.
It seems many people here opted out of this option, so I'm not sure if I'll have too much information.
All I know for certain is that from 2011 to 2012, they added a "lockout" for certain GPS/Phone functions while the car is in motion. Pretty dumb, since the passenger can't even use it. Hopefully there's a "hack" available soon.
Mainly I want to know if the screen supports a backup camera. I know the CRV has one, and visually the screen looks exactly the same. The CRZ is similar too, and the only difference is the blocked off port for the backup camera in the rear of the headunit. What can my 2012 unit support? I doubt it can play DVDs, so I won't even ask.
EDIT: I'm not interested in swapping the OEM headunit/navi with aftermarket yet.
Here's mine (2012)

just posted this in the other thread
I know on my 2009 Fit Navi there's no Bluetooth, and on your 2012 Fit Navi there is, just not sure about any other differences. I didn't even know that they locked out functionality while moving on the newer ones, that sucks.
I should've removed the OEM Navi to check the back of it for connections when I did my JDM hazzard button, I was always curious of what's there (connections). But I doubt there would be a video/camera input. You're better off getting an OEM Navi off a different Honda (with those features). Especially since I suspect they "dumb-down" the Navi for the Fit as opposed to the Civic or CR-V; there was much mention in this thread (https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ge-thread.html ) of those differences although the Navi's appear to be the same units (diff part #'s though), and of course the info in that thread is old now.
IMO, if you want more features look at what the CR-V's/Civic's offer and go with one of those like this guy did ---> ( CR-V Navigation + JDM Reverse Camera Accessory on a USDM CR-Z - Honda CRZ Forum: Honda CR-Z Hybrid Car Forums ) Since he swapped his CR-Z Navi with the CR-V's Navi (with some wiring/pin swapping) it seems possible, as long as you know the pinouts for each respectively.
The key is getting the features you want in an OEM Navi, but making sure it's inexpensive enough to make it worth it......
