DIY: 11 Pin Door Mirror (Folding, Heated, Smart Key)

Hello,

This is a start of a new DIY,
My JDM Folding, Heated and Smart Key Rear Mirror finally arrived today

When completed, this DIY will include the Auto Folding (the mirror fold automatically when you lock the alarm and open automatically when you turn the key to acc, and it will also include Auto Tilt, the mirror tilt down when you put the gear in reverse)...
It will also include mirror switch from CRV that had BACK LIGHTING...
so this will be an complicated DIY (many untested electrical connection)... hopefully I can manage to do this myself...
but I am NOT sure when I can complete this, hopefully in the next 6 months hahaha

I Bought the door mirror USED from Yahoo Auctions using Buyee

at first I want to get the New one from eBay where the seller sell it from Taiwan for $500 including the switch, but this one is NOT heated.

Then after I done my research I found that there many type of Door Mirror for Fit.

First model is the basic one which is no blinker, no folding just like USDM one.
Second model is with blinker but no folding, this one had 5 wire connection.
Third model is with blinker and folding, this one had 7 wire connection.
Forth model is with blinker, folding and heated mirror, this one had 9 wire connection.
Fifth model is with blinker, folding, and smart key (but NO heated mirror), this one had 9 wire connection.
Sixth model is with blinker, folding, heated mirror and smart key and this one had 11 wire connection !!! This is the one I buy.

I check the USED price on Yahoo auctions and the variance in price were so great that some times an 11 wire model is only half price of the basic 7 wire model !!!

I bought my 2 USED mirror with the 11 wire model for just around $300 (PAIR) already include shipping to US using service company called Buyee !!! I know the Taiwan 7 wire model (brand new) is more economical since it is just $500 including the switch, but the switch is standard GE switch so non back lighted, and it is not heated...
and
I know that we don't need the smart key function here but well if the 9 wire and 11 wire price for the used one are the same or sometimes lower... why not...

I also had bought the CRV mirror switch which had back lighting and should be here in the next few weeks...
but for the switch I bought it brand new though...

next step is to disassemble this mirror and check all the function (folding/blinking). then I probably going to paint the cover to Taffeta white together when I am painting my JDM RS bumper later,
(my used one is Pearl White on the left and Mocca on the right mirror hahaha)... cause I could not find a used Tafetta White with 11 wires at Yahoo japan that is in good condition...

if the painter ask too much, I will just buy a new cover from Japan,
or perhaps just bought the Mugen Carbon Fiber cover... still not decided for the cover though...

I also still need to buy the Auto Folding and Auto Tilt wiring before I can install this mirror on my car...

another modification that need to be done...
I will update this thread as I move along, but warning, this will be updated slowly though... I still had so much other thing to do... hahaha

here are the parts number:

Right LED Folding mirror:

Part# 76208-TFO-J11 folding, blinker without heater (7pin/wire)
Part# 76208-TF0-J21 folding, blinker, heated (9pin/wire)
Part# 76208-TF0-J31 folding, blinker, heated, smart key (11pin/wire )
Part# 76208-TF0-J41 folding, blinker, NON heated, smart key (9pin/wire)

Left LED Folding mirror:
Part# 76258-TF0-J11 folding, blinker without heater (7pin/wire)
Part# 76258-TF0-J21 folding, blinker, heated (9pin/wire)
Part# 76258-TF0-J31 folding, blinker, heated, smart key (11pin/wire )
Part# 76258-TF0-J41 folding, blinker, NON heated, smart key (9pin/wire)

please note that sometimes the seller on Yahoo Auction Japan put wrong part number,
so before you buy it, check the part number, picture of the pin/wire, and the description,...
and make sure the part number match... and if my part number above had some mistake
please don't blame me , at least I got my door mirror right with 11 pin/wire using the part number above

here are the pictures (as you can see there are just little scratch on the cover,
but I still need to paint them the correct color) :

Thanks Wanderer,
just in case you decide to search for the door mirror in Yahoo Japan,
here are the direct link:

For Left Door Mirror:
http://auctions.search.yahoo.co.jp/s...merce&slider=0

For Right Door Mirror:
http://auctions.search.yahoo.co.jp/s...erce&ei=euc-jp

but again this search function is for all type of door mirror,
you had to use Google translator and look at the description (and sometimes they wrote the part number) to find out which one do you want

Hi Codi,
hopefully I can finish this DIY before winter though

Anyway,
Today I had done checking all the function of the mirror motor, the folding motor, the heater circuitry, and the LED blinker using 9 volts battery,
and all works find.
I also had disassemble the cover and the frame, clean it, wash it etc etc

I also had make a list of all the wire color and it's function.
Since this is the ultimate 11 wire model, and all the wiring color came from factory original JDM car, this mean it will be the complete wiring color tables and correct.

Here goes:
There are 3 wires for power mirror function.
Left Mirror Wire

Yellow/White
Yellow/Red
Yellow/Black

Right Mirror Wire
Yellow/White
Blue/Green
Blue/Black

Folding Mirror Motor
Pin 8 White = Positive connected to Pin 7 on RC Switch
Pin 3 Black = Ground connected to Pin 8 on RC Switch

LED Blinker :
Pink = Positive,
Purple = Negative

Heater:
Black/White (Bi Polarity)
Black/White (Bi Polarity)

Smart Key Sensor (we don't need this one):
Orange
Grey

Here are the pictures:
Wire Color for Left and Right

Heated Mirror, notice the 2 terminal for the heating element built into the mirror glass:

The Frame of the mirror without cover, still looks NEW eventhough it was used !!! Not much dust when I open it too... all function run perfectly !

The Covers do have some very small scratch on it, but I am going to paint them anyway

Really,
I don't know about that we can upgrade the LED.
How can I upgrade them?
Change the LED inside or change the whole LED module?
I am really interested if I can upgrade the LED,
because this LED is USED, so no matter how good they are, I just
prefer if I can install a brand new LED inside it

oh, by the way,
Do you remember the Corresponding COLOR of the USDM Door Mirror Harness, the one that came from the Car Wiring, that going to connect
to the 3 wire coming from the Mirror ? (the 3 wire for power mirror function)... I understand that the Left door and Right Door have different color. and since I have not open my door panel yet, I don't know the corresponding color...

If you could help me with this data, my wire color table will be complete.

Thanks

Thanks,

I had seen the color matching above for Left Mirror harness from the other thread started by Nikko but I was guessing that the Right Door harness
must have the same Green + Orange + Pink wire too huh?
Ok, then, that mean I just have to match the Right Mirror Harness after checking the function of each wire with reference to the Left Mirror and Door Harness combo.

Thanks Again.

Thanks,

The only thing that I had to figure myself is which PIN on the CRV Mirror switch that were used for Back Lighting

I also might need to use some relay for the heater function, with the relay being activated by signal from the Rear Window Heater switch...
not sure about this yet...

oh, I also think that the insight auto tilt wiring that you had point out to me before will work with just one modification for the 3 wire for the power mirror since the wiring were for RHD car and we are LHD drive car (passenger door mirror on right side for USDM model)...

that's about it... of course theory is easy but as you had experience, this will be a
complicated journey

Thanks

well i did my install w/o all the necessary parts. for one thing the honda oem wires didnt come in on time and i was itching to get them working, so i just bought a bunch of wires from radio shacked and wiretapped all of the wires. not the cleanest install, but you can't see it anyway. the guys at fitfans used disconnects to make their install easier to uninstall, very nice and clean.

I already got the pigtail for the mirror switch since last month hahaha,
I bought the pigtail first before even buying the mirror it self... silly me...

oh by the way, do you know the part number for the pigtail that is going
into the Door Socket ?
I mean the USDM door socket had 6 holes, and 3 had been used,
so still 3 holes left. that guy at CR-Z forum bought a door mirror harness
so he can sacrifice it and get the pigtail from it,
but if we know the door socket pigtail number,
we don't have to buy the door mirror wiring harness which cost more...

again what I mean is the wire coming from the mirror is a female pig tail right?
so if we can find the male pig tail part number that were in the door harness socket (from the body wiring harness), than we can utilize the remaining 3 holes on USDM socket...

also, you said earlier about upgrading the LED Blinker,...
where can I buy this upgraded LED blinker?

Thanks

as for the leds, im trying to find the product in rakuten. i forgot the keyword i used. ill let u know if i find it again.

i dont think he means japanese smart key, which is a completely different system. i think he means the alarm auto fold.
