CRZ Aero engine under panel installed on my Fit

I used all the clips and mounting points the cover offerred, i basically drilled 7/64" holes through the existing CRZ cover and popped in snap clips (clips sourced from Toyota Camry lol). The 2 front screws are actually fairing screws from a Honda VFR800, this is neat because the screws have a fat blank unthreaded section that allows it to be tightened without stressing the plastic or over torquing it. The front 2 screws mounts do have threading from the factory that lines up, what you have to do is drill holes through the factory Fit plastic under panel and you will see 2 metal tabs that has threads that already exists. I noticed the Insight has the same type of cover as the CRZ but different part# i wonder if that one will offer a better fit then the CRZ one?

Worthwhile mod that nets me 0.8~1 mpg over the course of my 230 miles this week of highway driving so far. I drive the same distance and same routes daily so its very consistent.

Thumbs up

Looks good, I had a feeling drilling a few new holes would make it work easily...

Been thinking about the CR-Z underpanel, but lately I've been leaning towards the Beatrush underpanel especially after reading the reviews...

Update if it makes any difference to anyone... the part #

74111-TM8-A00 COVER, ENGINE (LOWER)

I left out the part numbers for the clips, I doubt they would be useful anyway.

Good idea Mini-Odessey, I never thought of it but $40 for the cover i think I'll give it a try. Any bright ideas for the rear?

There really isn't where else significant to shield up, the bottom on this car is actually pretty well flat and smooth to begin with and the spare tire well area already seems to have a aero cover in the center rear. I wonder if export model Fits have a center engine cover? I see preexisting holes and mounting locations already so im wondering if only USA models come open like this.

Yes it needs to be removed but its super easy as most of it is pop clips with a flat head and just 2 allen head screws towards the front.

Ok now that i went through a tankful of gas and something interesting has came about. With my new Kosei wheels and tire upgrade my city mpg went up 2.3 but highway mpg went down 1.1mpg , but with this new under panel it became a wash for the highway loss. Overall mpg has gone from 39-40 mpg (in the last 7 fills) to now a 41.7 mpg under the same driving conditions over the same road..

Any adverse cooling effects? I'm wondering how that effects underhood temperatures. Maybe someone has a remote temperature sensing unit they can run a test or two on.....

FWIW, the fit has kind of terrible CD... I need to some some calculations on what lowering would do for it vs any sort of ground effects mods.

With a ScanGage II you can monitor the intake temperature. That will give you a good idea. The Fit runs very cool and stable though. If anything the under panel might bring you up to operating temp quicker and save a little fuel in the process.

I really cant tell, i mean since Ive owned this car Ive only heard the electric fan come on once and that's because i turned on the AC, so i don't think its making it run that much hotter if any. It does however do a much better job keeping the engine bay clean then not having one. I do want to install a water temp gauge one day just to see what sort of water temps this car runs.

OK, I have one question; how much time does it take to remove all the attachment tabs/screws to perform an oil service ?

Maybe you could time it ?

Good to know, I may do this, right now in the midwest, high temps are not the issue. But If I lived in Tucson or Phoenix again....

Just hoping I make it back to SoCal someday soon.
