Body Color License Plate Frames

I painted my license plate frames with Silver Storm paint.
The front bracket and holder, being a necessary evil in my state, also got the treatment.
I left the lower part of the front frame black to make it blend in with the dark lower intake.

Pics down below. Thanks for the help vinnymac!

Front view from further away. Hopefully this shows how the black lower part of the frame "blends" into the lower grill.

FitAK that's really smooth and easy on the eyes, luckily for ya the Alaska plate colors really melds to yur SSM and painting the frame the color as yur ryde makes it look even better. "Nice"

I bought vanity plates in the blue and white pattern because the "stock" AK plates are a hideous yellow/gold and dark blue. I thought the blue and white pattern would look better on a silver car.

BTW, the paint I used on the plastic front bracket was from a rattle can that I bought at the store. It was a Krylon* product made for plastic. Steel paint won’t stick to plastic very well, it tends to flake off. The color matched almost perfectly.

The actual frames are metal. I sanded them down a bit and then sprayed them with Honda NH624M. This was also a rattle can which I bought from Automotivetouchup. This paint is specific for metal.

It was a very inexpensive mod, and I think it finished off the car to a higher degree than without it. I really don’t like the look of unfinished plates. Now, I’ve noticed that most people, if they have any plate frame at all, leave their dealer frames on. Nice way to advertise I guess. I prefer not to advertise. I also don’t like too much writing on a vehicle.
In fact, I may de-badge the car and get rid of the “FIT”

*Krylon Fusion, “Textured Shimmer”. No color code, I just bought the one with the silver cap. The color turned out to be almost identical to the stock paint.

Nice original job. Krylon paints are great. I use them a lot on models.

A different plate method I used. I have personalized plates I like to protect so I add blue tinted covers and chrome bolt covers.

The rear looks good at night with blue lights.

Looks good.
I thought about putting a clear cover on mine but our weather tends to glaze them over pretty quick.

I'd like to see the rear plate lit up at night.

BTW, I think you are the one who inspired me to buy a sharkfin antenna. Those things are great. A reasonably inexpensive mod that really stands out.

I just de-badged my rear last night.
It looks pretty clean back there now with the FIT emblem gone.
I actually thought about adding "Sport" like you did, either that or completely replacing it with "Microvan"
I'll post pics later.

I must take a night pic of licence plate. I do find my covers are OK even with all the crap from winter salt etc.

The de-badge looks good but I kinda like my Sport too.

I do find the antenna does not seem to have the same range though.

GREAT IDEA! What brand is your paint? I have the same color car. It also looks like your finish is more of a matte - did they have a more metalized finish available?

Agree, the 2-tone looks a little odd, but you gotta remember that this is a close up with the car standing still. Probably looks awesome as you see it driving down the street.
