51R Battery Upgrade on my '09 Fit
#41
Hey Frenzal. Pics of my install. I was able to get the positive to connect though I am missing part of red cap I broke off long ago. By moving the strap I was able to fasten the positive wire to the the original connector to keep it away from engine block. A tight squeeze though between air box and battery. I hope we do not rub through for a short. I just cut the one end off the original tray.

I'm in Montreal.
Just got a quick look yesterday when I got home from work, just to see if everything was OK. Noticed that the battery was rubbing against the airbox, on the little notch on the side. Trimmed it out of the way. Now I have 1/4" free space on the motor side. Glad I had a look before the rubbing might have punctured the battery!!

I no read good eh. A Habs fan I hope. My Mom and her family grew up in Montreal many years ago. This summer I made it as far as Rigaud and across at Pointe Fortune.
I put mine at a bit of an angle. Maybe that is why I could connect the Positive. Damn Headlights don't need to be that big eh.

Don't want to put it at an angle because I need to open the airbox every year. Don't know why, but my air filter gets dirty so quick with black gooey stuff (maybe because it is so small?)... Have to give it a wash every year (K&N). I'm happy right now with the install. Will just reposition and protect my positive extension cable. Then hope that this winter, my car starts every time I want it to!
And I'm no HABS fan, don't like to watch sport...

I guess I will have to pull battery to check my filter. I do not drive much so that is not a problem for me to pull say once a year.
Yes, hopefully we will start this winter. I have always had my Caravan as backup so it was just an inconvenience when the Fit would not start. I have also ordered a battery tender to install. I am hoping it will fit in behind the battery.
