Transmission Swap GE8
#21
BTW, the two complete axle shafts alone are almost $1,000 and are different between the auto and manual. I can't even find a part code for the complete manual transmission, but I'm sure there is one.
You can play around on here Honda Fit Parts - Bernardi Honda Parts and Accessories and just open two browsers, one with the manual Fit and one with the auto and see the parts that are different. I'd guess there to be over a 1,000 if you count all the little components.

Like I said before if your serous about getting a manual Fit start going to dealers and looking at trades. That in the end will save you money and headaches.
If you dont want to listen to everyone else at least listen to me, a guy that did a auto to manual swap. The swapping to manual is not cheap or easy and all the planing in the world there still will be hidden cost and things you just dint think about.

Misfyt, Live with it til you need a new car.
Have you driven a Manual? It would be pretty sad if you ever got the money together to do the swap and find you can't drive it.
You would be best putting any extra money you have towards paying off the car. Then next time do your hoemwork and buy the car you want instead of "I have to have it now mode " and buying the wrong one.

I've inquired about doing the swap.
For me the most unfortunate is that I have the Made in China 2012 Canadian Honda Fit (Less options than the USA one).
In Ontario, where I am from. The estimate for the swap is $15,000 CDN.
In Michigan where I work. The estimate for the swap is $13,000 USD.
The car itself was $24,000CDN (including all the extra warranties I got conned into).
Dealers both said the same thing: Trade the car in for Manual is cheaper in all respects.

I'm doing the swap soon and I don't know who told you it would cost that much, it's going to cost me around 1000-1300, might be less if I can find a m/t tranny in a junk yard, the. It would be around 800-900 to do the swap. The tranny is 400 used on eBay plus shipping. Junk yard charges 125 for a tranny by my house That's including a nee clutch, flywheel, mounts and buddy club short shift assembly. Everything else is used. Oh and new axles $100 with a $35 core. It's not as expensive as everyone says it is, unless you are paying someone else to do it. Since no one did a write up I'll be doing one in the next couple months. I'm doing the swap because my a/t tranny is going. I've done plenty of auto to manual swaps. I use to own a shop so I guess that is why I don't see it as being so hard. I converted three of my own civics. I bought them with the intention of converting. Down here in south florida it's hard to find a m/t eg or ek that hasn't been touched, but no one touches a/t's and for a few hundred at a junk yard you can convert it in a day.
