Do a search for the K&N factory site and I am pretty sure that you will find the dimension of your current filter when you check the chart for a replacement.

This is the filter the typhoon uses -->RC-9630 - K&N Universal Air Filters, Universal Chrome Filter

The inside flange diameter is 2.5 in, so that's your pipe diameter

I was looking at getting the K&N typhoon but have read that with the new cars that initially you will get some gains. However, after a little time the computer will make adjustments to offset these gains in any power. I was wondering if anyone that installed the K&N typhoon and has had it in the car over extended period still feels the gains they initially experience or not?

Thanks

Well, K&N themselves say it's a "4.53 HP Increase." Based on their dyno test. So...you're not actually going to feel less than 5 HP added to the car. If someone says they did then either they have a GREAT feel for their car or they're lying. The Typhoon's not going to give you anything more than a little intake sound, minor MINOR HP gains, and just the knowledge that it's on there

Just figure on an increase in performance in the upper part of the power band in the first 3 gears and a drop in top end speed in 5th gear... Also expect a loss in low end torque... The only thing positive I experienced by using an aftermarket intake was a 3 MPG gain in fuel mileage at 80 and 90MPH... The best thing you can do for an improvement in performance you can feel is to mount ultra light wheels and stock sized tires in place of the heavy stock ones.

Thanks the light wheels is what I did to my Miata 14x7 Enkei RPF01 and would eventually do the same to my Fit. Just cannot decide if the 15x7 would look good on a GE.

A little HP gain would be nice if it was achievable with a intake and exhaust more of a low cost mod. Higher cost to obtain more horsepower (supercharger) might be cheaper in the long run to buy a higher performance car that is cover under the manufacturers warranty.

555sexydrive has some pictures of his GE with 15" wheels on it.. I have only seen one GE with 15s on it and thought it looked nice... Right now I have some 16X6.5 Kosei wheels and 205-50-16s on my car. They weigh a lb or 2 less than the stock alloy wheels and 195-55-15s and about 9lbs more per corner than 15X7 Enkei RPF1s and stock size Conti Pro Contact tires.....The tires alone are a little less than 2lbs lighter than the Enkeis and tires... Even with the Kraftwerks high boost kit the wheel/tire weight is killing me... It isn't horrible when accelerating from 50 MPH or higher but I do need more room to get around slow moving cars on 2 lane highways... I don't miss the wheel spin and under steer when having to enter moving traffic from a dead stop or putting the throttle pedal to the floor below 40MPH in 2nd gear but I'm not sure I can out run some of the cars I could easily walk away from with the lighter wheel/tire combination.. My car's on jack stands right now but after I get done with some changes I'm doing I'm putting the RPF1s and some 195-50-15s on it at least on a couple of Saturday nights a month.

Look here for some good pics of GEs w/ 15s - https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...-ge-sport.html

Looks good to me. I'm goin 15s whenever I eventually get new wheels. Enkei RPF1 15x7 +41 are only 9.65 lbs!!!! Those are the way to go for weight reduction. 6uls and Weds are also nice lightweight wheels.

The 15 x 7 are nice in that ET41 could work on my Miata. That was the reason I went with 14x7 on my 95 Miata weight reduction helps performance without increasing hp.

Also you sometimes can get a good deal on 15x7 Enkei because a someone brought them for their Miata and decided they wanted a lower offset for looks rather than performance.

Hi,

Has anyone fitted the K&N 69-1017TTK that also have a front strut bar in the engine bay?

Anyone has pics?

I'm considering getting the K&N on my UK GE6 and currently have a J's Racing front strut but unsure if the K&N will be ok with it.

Gary

Front strut tower bar? So is it all hidden behind the wiper cowl?

Nice! So is that just the two access covers removed from the wiper cowl? Maybe yours is different than the USDM one. Your engine bay definitely has some visible differences. Back to the K&N though, I think you'd have plenty of room. Just eyeballing it, but it looks like you'd have clearance. The entire intake is basically no higher than the throttle body, and no further forward than it as well. Look at this picture from K&N's site and see if you agree -

Yes the access cover on both side are exposed (taken away) as the space is needed for the fitting

again, not the best pics (my photobucket account seems to only do them in this size? )

Ok that makes more sense. Whoa your driver's side is my passenger's side and your passenger's side is my driver's side! It's like you live in a completely different country or something! .

And if your pictures are originally larger, then you must have some setting selected on Photobucket to automatically downsize your images. That never happens to me when I use Photobucket.

Correct- I was going to put this in my post but I knew you knew what I was saying

Will do bit more investigation before splashing out on one. I can get one for £200 delivered in the UK which isnt too bad but think you guys can get one for <$200 so obviously cheaper for you guys

Edit> just had a quick look and found this thread

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...-intake-2.html

Within this thread had the following pic

the heat shield looks quite high in that it might foul the strut bar. May have to take some pics of the same area and compare

A few question, My wife has a Takeda CIA and A Apex exhaust and it feels like what little power we got from it is now gone.

Do I have to just reset the Computer to get it back?

Is it going to go away again?

Is there a way to make the computer relearn so i don't have to reset it?

I've thought I saw something about this before but I can't fine it.
