2nd Gen (GE) Intake System Review Thread
#42
It took about 20 min to install the intake, the instructions that come with the k&n are very straight forward you just have to read and pay attention at the same time. As for power gains, i believe i feel a difference wich makes me happy plus it make the engine all together sound more agressive.

Hey Fit4Flight, any pics of this catch can
As promised, here's my mileage report after the K&N intake install. Previously I hit 38 mpg going back to Detroit and 42.6 mpg coming back to Chicago. Now the only difference this time was I had the a/c on and when going to the D I fueled up along the way instead of right before I got onto the freeway. Here are the numbers....
39.3 mpg going to the D
42.0 mpg coming back to Chicago
On the way home, I took I-94 all the way this time, last time had me taking a different freeway or two, but the speed was the same, 70 mph, so it shouldn't have mattered that much, but I'm not complaining about losing .6 mpg on the way back, but I wonder how I gained 1.3 mpg on the way to the D
We'll see how it goes in the fall when I take another roadie and don't need to run the a/c. Most cars I've ever had the use of the a/c didn't change the mileage but maybe because the Fit is "hp and tq challenged" and the a/c brings it down more than most, I don't know
I will say this though, when I would get on it a bit to pass, I did feel extra passing power, via the "butt dyno"

I've had mine installed for almost 5k miles now and haven't had one issue with it and I couldn't be happier with it. Its a quality piece which is important to me, "fits" right which is a must and the sound is awesome!, not to mention the perf, you can feel the difference, so the claim of 4.5 hp is probably pretty accurate
I know its a bit more expensive, but it pays for itself with the ease of install and finished product, plus 41 years of experience as a company, they're doing something right.
Anyone on the fence about this, come on over, the waters fine!

Gruppe M intake for GE
I doubt there will be much interest in this intake as it is just a filter and costs a bit much, especially now with the everyday weakening $.
Anyways, Gruppe M has a dyno plot on their site, of course it must be taken with a grain of salt or a whole lick from a salt cube, but here it is.
If indeed real, not a bad increase at all. Might pick one up to compare with the PRM I already have.
And the intake I'm talking about...
Carbon version and they also have an aluminum version. Definitely doesn't look like much at all, especially when it costs about $536 at today's exchange. Just searched online and found it for $396 (after conversion) with shipping. That's a decent amount off. Have it in my shopping cart and just need to push the button, but not sure.

1 ps is eqaul to like .986 hp. 1kg/m is equal to 7.233 ft-lb of torque. Thinking more about it, decided not to get it as I want the Js Ti front pipe to mate up with the rest of the Js exhaust. The PRM works right now and I can always get the intake later on.

pricey cf intake... seeing how everything in japan cost a little bit more than it does here, im curious of the avg household income in big cities in japan.
ex. prm intake= $260, gruppe M = $536 thats like more than double for the gruppe m.

It's real shitty, my rent has gone from $2272/month to $2439/month in just the past few months. It's why I'm holding off on really buying anything else right now, but until the Japanese Government intervenes, because I don't see the US doing anything as it seems they don't give a shit how low the $ goes, because we always have China to keep funding us more loans and the printing presses seem to like to work overtime these days. Everything I have purchased already has been much more than it should have cost if the $ was just even in value. It's why I'm surprised that the Japanese makes stateside have not really raised their prices on vehicles, because they are LOSING a ton of YEN, but I guess they can't really raise prices or they will lose sales to domestic/Mexican products. Which I think is what the government kind of wants to see happen in reality. Afterall Government Motors needs to be able to recoup some of that Chinese loan money back.
Wow I've taken this off on a tangent. hahaha

BTW, THE K&N THAT COMES WITH THE KIT COMES RIGHT OUT WITHOUT HAVING TO MOVE THE BATTERY...OR ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER!
