DIY: $50 (or less) Intake For The GE. CAI / SRI
#65
sweeet, I'm almost done with everything. now I just have to wait for the 2" to 3" coupler that I bought from ebay.. haha. all of the cutting is done and I have all of the other materials ready.btw, does it matter how you set the MAF tube? Like do you position it so the plug faces the firewall, or do you position it so it connects from the bottom..
Anyways, how do you reset the ecu. Some people say disconnect the neg terminal for 10 seconds and then turn on your car, and do not give it any gas. then let it idle for 15 minutes. Others say pull a fuse out then idle it for 15 minutes.. Kind of confused here.. haha

Wow, the sound of it is amazing. Its deep. I didn't think that the fit had that kind of sound. haha, THANKS LYON! I will upload a video when I can. Please enjoy these pictures:
Sorry about the big pictures.
Update: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE COUPLER TO THE MAF TUBE TOO TIGHT!!! mine cracked a little bit, and now I taped it up with electrical tape. is that okay to do?

I got nearly everything off ebay, pipe I got off a friend, he had an off cut lying around, otherwise look at a junk yard for a piece of 3" pipe if you really wanna save $$.

Finished mine off today, fabricated my own heat shield so its now a CAI...? looks better then the K&N one cause it was made for me by me :P I will post a thread up with a small how to and schematics of the heat shield if anyone is interested.

i made a free model (Prototype) , take out the intake box and use this piece from it
and the rubber piece that connects to the throttle body and connect the two pieces so the slanted part is facing down and the use the piece from the airbox that covers the air filter nd holds the sensor and connect it to the rubber piece and it should sit sie ways then find a way to secure the filter, i have some pics, i was bored at work and did this
it does look a lil sloppy cause of the blue tape but i was using what i had to try it out and it SOunds gOOd!, just need to make it a lil neater and it will be kinda cool and its a way to avoid cutting the sensor piece out , kida reminds me of an arc intake lol

I am curious to know if Spectre's part #9405 ( Spectre Performance - Official Site ) would work to prevent having to chop up the airbox. It seems to have the right size adapters inside so you wouldn't get a CEL. Just curious, good DYI!!!
