Which GD do I have?

Hello all,

First of all my deepest condolences to anyone personally affected by the attack on innocent people last night. I feel for you.

OK I tried searching for this subject, but I couldn't find it. I'm betting it's somewhere! Should be a sticky really. Anyways it looks like there's 8 versions of the GD. What's the differences and how do you figure out which one you have?

Well I'm reading the beginning of this thread and it states in part;

1st Generation (GD 01-08)

So that is saying there are 8 different GDs, no?

If you're in the USA you have a GD3. Whether you have a sport or a base, an auto or a manual, etc., is pretty self explanatory.

And GD 01-08 means the GD was sold somehwere in the world from the 2001 (01) model year to 2008 (08) model year.

Well then I have either the GD3 or GD 07. BTW I have a 2007 US Fit.

The GD3 is what you have.

GD 07 is not a thing. GD 01-08 doesn't mean anything.

Think of it as GD (2001-2008).

You're massively overcomplicating things.

It's gotta mean something! Look at the thread. It reads in part;

I follow that (GD 01-08) = GD (2001-2008), but I have yet to figure out where the "3" comes from in GD3.

There is no greater meaning to the three.

3 is 2WD, 1.5l engine.

I've been here for a decade (this is my second screen name).

You're over complicating things.

I now drive a GE8 (2009-13 Fit in the USA), this doesn't mean the car has anything significantly tied to the 8.

My other car is an AP1 (99-03 Honda S2000), again, that number 1 doesn't mean anything special.

Etc.

Thanks, GD4 with MT would have been so nice to see in the States! Assuming you could turn the 4wd off and on.

Technically I think the GD4 is AWD not 4WD, AWD is full time all wheel drive ,,, 4wd typically means a transfer case and often the ability to select a separate gear ratio for rough terrain.

It would be a totally fun little rally cross car!

Having Honda pursue a vehicle for rallying would have been so awesome! Think a high powered turbo AWD vehicle! Manufacturers need to release a version close to the racing platform, for the public to possess. They would have been able to and they even can do it today. Honda is a huge company that could support a team. I think there's just 4 manufacturers in it right now?

Europe and Japan had the Jazz long before Honda finally saw Fit to send us the car! We only saw them starting in 2007 - GD3s. The 2008 was the same design but then they changed everything so we got the GE in 2009. The 2 year run for GD3s is why we can't find any of them now when we want to replace our cars.
