Airbag recall... fail!!

Airbag recall... fail!!
After second reminder letter I attempted to make an appointment with local stealership to do airbag recall work.
The TSB allocates less than an hour for this procedure. To my surprise a dealer wants me to leave a car for 5 to 7 hours (so WTF is appointment for???); they only offer one way shuttle.
I am seriously thinking about purchasing safety face shield to protect myself and the passenger from incompetently designed airbags and objects that could through the windshield (especially after 3 inch pine cone struck my windshield while traveling on city street at 40 mph!)

Push harder they are supposed to provide a loaner during the work.
NEVER EVER do anything over the phone with a service department you are immediately the lest important thing in their world.
Tell them to call honda corp while your standing there..
Your in SO cali isnt there another dealer ?? I though they were like starbucks down there..

That's disturbing, J. But it speaks to why I have ignored the airbag recall thus far. I don't need the aggravation of having to sort out the incompetence, misinformation and deliberate lies of the Honda dealerships.
I love Honda, but they are really screwing up the brand in the last five years. Not just with this recall. With everything. They seem to have forgotten who they are.

In the dealerships defense a TSB isn't factoring the total operation of a service department.
Personally, if it is an airbag issue, I don't want anyone hurrying. Take your time, do it right.
But if it's going to basically take all day? A one way shuttle? No...I want a loaner car.

I got to my dealer at 9am as per my appointment, and THEN they tell me they need it all day. I ended up taking a bus home and their shuttle picked me up 25 minutes before they closed and the guy had to drive like a maniac to get me back there in time.
It was a major pita, but much to my delighted surprise they managed to fix my malfunctioning rear latch -- by replacing the driver's side window switch which was also part of the recall.

Anyone have a link to Honda recalls ( where you put in your VIN ) and it will tell you any recalls and even get your build sheet?
I am new to Hondas but We could do this with Dodge ( on a Ram Truck site ) with any dodge products. So I wonder if Honda has something similar? Thanks.

I just wanted to give some insight on recall procedures. I used to be a tech working for one of the 'big 3' and a customer's car was never brought in for a recall until the parts were in stock or known to be coming in on the first truck of the morning 8-8:30 ish. (unless it was towed in, then the dealer was stuck storing it until it was fixed). Most often with the small recalls (some would only take 5 minutes once on the hoist), the controllers would wait until there was a small gap in between a tech's jobs and give the recall to them then. And yes, the squeaky wheel always got the grease. If you want more grease, be a bigger squeak

When I had my dodge, I just called the 800 # on the webpage, they set it all up over the phone, could drop it and run or wait ( I usually choose to wait ) get there a few minutes early or when they first opened as I was always told, within a few hours I was out the door. Never had an issue with a 5 star dealership, I hope the Honda dealers here are just as good.
