Pressure switch on transmission

Pressure switch on transmission
Hi,
I have a 2007 Fit with 284,000 miles.
Recently on the way to work one morning, the check engine light came on and the green D light flashes.
I've done the usual gas cap check and that had fixed it at one point last year but not this time.
While changing the oil last night I noticed a sensor on the bottom of the transmission (on the opposite side from the oil filter) that had a wire pulled out of it and hanging loose with bare wires exposed.
Today on the way home I ran by the dealer to see about getting a new sensor and was told they don't sell them, only whole harnesses and that will run $800.
I'm an electronics tech by profession so I can make it work if I can get a new sensor and connectorize each end of the wires.
I drive close to 1000 miles a week to and from work so since the car is probably close to end of life (although I'm trying to prolong that as I really like the car) I don't want to spend that kind of money.
I'm looking at going to a junkyard and seeing if I can get a sensor, or buy one off EBay. What kind of sensor is it? One I found said 2nd/3rd gear and that seems low as the car is still very much driveable, even at interstate speeds.
Thanks!
Chris

Single wire sensor, should be a pressure switch.
The two pressure switches (one on front, other on rear of trans) have different part numbers, so they are not exactly the same. IDK what the difference is off the top of my head though.
Each switch uses a soft aluminum sealing washer too.
The pressure switch does not come with a wire hanging out of it so if you see a wire hanging out there's still a connector on the switch--- you can remove it and splice the wire ends back together. (If I understood your description right)
If all you need is a wire repair, that should be a cakewalk. I fix rodent damaged wiring all the time, much cheaper than an entire engine harness.

Sure thing.
Lack of jobs in my area. We relocated from a large metro for my wife's job as a professor at a small highly ranked university. The closest tech jobs are the next state over (Huntsville AL) which sounds bad but really is only about 5 counties. So it's an 82 mile drive for me each way but the time passes really quickly.

Item #9 is the pressure switch i think OP is dealing with.
Majestic wants about $37 for the switch and sealing washer
