Two hundred twenty nine and some change

I did it. Traded in my 2007. 229,XXX on the tach. Just thought GD owners might like to know it was still running with only a few problems over the years. I found a silver GE with 37,000 and traded it in.

In the dealer lot with 229,000 on it

Congrats!

I think (or at least sincerely hope) you mean 229,000 on the odo, and not the tach.

Yeah, congrats.

Hope that GRIN stays on your face throughout the life of the new car!

PS: it would be nice for others if you would summarize anything that went wrong over the ownership of your GD. Like coils, A/C issues, misfires...

How long did brakes last you?

How about tires?

Did you service the car by the MM? What was the oil life? I bet you did a lot of highway for 25K miles/year)

As 'Buff says, more info would be cool.

Congrats on the move.

A few for details:
I mostly drove highway miles on the GD. I had Honda change the oil when MM told me. And never checked it because the car ran great. I put front break pads on twice. Tire Discounters adjusted the drums once too.

I put two sets of tires on over the years and rotated them well (every 5K). I bought them both at Tire Discounters:
1. KUMHO ECSTA LX PLATINUMs (nice tires lasted a long time)
2. FALKEN ZIEX ZE950 (I liked the look of these the best)

At about 140k The hesitation started (I only noticed it at around 40MPH it would shutter) I bought 4 new coils from rockauto. (took the new boots apart and put dielectirc grease throughout) New NGK plugs stock gap. It was a fairly cheap easy job and the car was new again.

160K I put an OEM battery in because it started to take a few cranks in the cold weather. I went to Honda because the thing lasted so long I wanted an OEM.

200K Drive axle snapped (passenger side) The factory axles have a rubber balancer on them and it rusts under it. Hit the gas on a hill and it snapped. Bought an aftermarket and had a shop put it on.

210K A/C compressor died. I didn't spend the money to fit it.

Headlight bulbs went out a few times (That might be the worst job... fitting your hand between the plastic and blindly changing them).

I never changed a belt, a hose, a thermostat or a fuse. Original alternator and exhaust. I mostly just drove it. And probably why I bought another Fit.
