Car stopped dead - won't move at all
I have an automatic 2007. Today I was pulling out of a driveway when it sounded like I hit a curb. Just a complete THUMP. If I tried to drive forward, it had no "get up and go" to do that. Just rolled forward down the slight slope. Would not go in reverse. When switched to park it made loud chugging sounds. The emergency brake will not hold it, but the normal brake will. Some people helped me push it in neutral to safety.
I checked under the hood and looked at what I could under the very low body frame and saw nothing obvious. No smoking, no broken parts. The engine looks fine. There's nothing hanging down under it. No dashboard lights came on. Nothing at all.
It's a high mileage vehicle with regular oil changes. It gave no warning signs or indicators until it just stopped moving. I have no idea what has happened.

Sounds like CV axle failure (passenger side, connection to the intermediate axle shaft) right next to the shaft support bearing)
The e-brake was failing to hold due to the different issue (rear brake shoes adjustment)
