Weird Rubbing Sound

Weird Rubbing Sound
Hello, all!
So it seems like every time I hear a strange sound I'm immediately worried...my apologies to the community.
I'm moving down to Indiana pretty soon and I had my vehicle undergo a maintenance inspection to make sure I was kosher. Before this, since it's finally nice weather out, I was driving with my driver's side window all the way down and I heard a rubbing sound that seemed to go with the tire, but at a faster tempo than what a rock stuck in the thread would go at, if you know what I'm saying. I can only hear it around 25-40 mph, and only with the driver's side window rolled almost all the way to all the way down. At first, I thought it was just the wind buffeting the window area, as it does hit it at a consistent tempo, but the sound was still there when I was driving at lower speeds. The only way I can describe the sound is that it's similar to rubbing a hand on pants at a steady tempo.
I let the mechanics know about it when I brought it in twice for inspections (and to get a headlight repaired), but they said that they couldn't hear it at all, or they couldn't find anything that may lead to that sort of noise. The only different thing that has been done to my car was that my heat shield was taken off by one of the places as it was rattling like crazy, but I heard the sound before this happened.
Any advice? I just want to make sure I can drive through a few states without getting stranded.

It's less of a clicking noise, more of a rubbing noise from what I can tell. I guess another way to describe it would be like a sticky substance being pulled off of a surface, but the tempo seems to be faster than going on the circumference of the wheel.

You rolled through a patch of fresh road tar, now there's a glob stuck in the tread.

Not good enough. For many noise complaints you HAVE to take a tech for a ride and point out exactly what your issue is. That way everyone is on the same page from the git-go.

Make sure you look at the link I posted (which is to one post in that Topic).
