Front Bumper Cover Problems 2007 sport

I was backing up into my driveway, turned and clipped a hedge, and "ripped" the front bumper cover partially off. I was able to reattach it with some clips, but at the very edge of the cover where it attaches the hole was effectively torn out. Since then, the edge of the bumper cover constantly pops out.

Anyone else with this experience? Any advice on an easy fix? I feel like I have seen at least a couple of other 07-08s with this problem...

Thanks in advance!

Temporary but pretty good fix - Grab a large washer big enough to cover the surface area of the ripped section of the bumper tab and use the original screw (if available) to tighten it down.

To make it more permanent use some epoxy or go to harbor freight and purchase a plastic welder for <$20 iirc and weld it together

The above poster is right! I fixed mine the exact same way however there is a more permanent fix: there is a plastic part with clips on the side where you ripped the bumper cover, I believe it is called a spacer. There is one located underneath the headlight and one more on the side. The one that is giving you grief is probably the small one on the side. It has a little plastic hole in which the screw fits in and when I had a minor fender bender, mine was broken. If you change the part (Part number 71193-SLN-A01 and 71198-SLN-A01 for right and left respectively) the first time you put the screw in it is difficult because you actually make new threads in the plastic; originally there is no bolt on the end of the screw, it just screws into a plastic hole.

It's a relatively easy repair that requires removing a single bolt (it is best done by removing the whole front bumper cover which is a little complicated) and should allow your bumper to hold in better. If not, you could consider rebuilding the tab by using the special plastic epoxy from 3M for rebuilding bumpers (something like 4040? in the name). It's not cheap and requires the purchase of a special gun to dispense the plastic epoxy but it will allow you to rebuild the tab and drill and new whole for the screw.

The adhesive I referred to in my post is duramix 4040 or its slower drying counterpart duramix 4041. They dry to become the same material as your bumper and can be used to rebuild tabs which is convenient since they are hidden and thus don't require painting. 3M also sells a clear plastic adhesive sheet which can be used to compress a blob of 4040 into a a flat tab which can then be dremeled/sanded to size and you pierce a new screw hole with a drill.
