over filling gas tank

I have done some research and they recommend not over filling your tank due to the charcoal canister cause the fuel could get into that system causing it to get damaged. I used to top it off but since I read that I stopped

Never heard if such a thing. I always fill up to the max. When the pump stops I usually round up to the nearest tenth or dollar if it's 20 cents off.

When they caution not to overfill the tank, they mean that you should NOT try to cram an extra gallon or two in there. That is what damages the evap system because there is no room for the gasses to expand.


Adding a little to round the cost to an even number $$ won't hurt tho'. Especially if you will be driving a distance on the way to your next destination.

I always give it a couple more pumps. Never did any harm.
