Squeaking/Grinding in reverse
I have an 08 Sport, manual transmission.
For a while now, when I back up there is a terribly loud squealing/grinding noise that comes out of my front right wheel area when backing up and turning. I live in the Frozen Tundra, so know what a tire rubbing sounds like, and this isn't it. This sounds more like what it sounds like when your brakes are completely shot.
No noise when braking straight backwards or forwards, and three separate mechanics have told me my brakes are fine. but when driving forward there is a very high pitched ticking noise that comes out of the same area. That particular noise is louder when braking and turning, like going around a cloverleaf on/off ramp.
both noises are definitely worse after it rains.
Thoughts? So far my friends have suggested cv joints and/or wheel bearings.

I have a GE8 MT, but im having the exact same issue whenever I reverse it sounds like something is pulling/grinding in the front right wheel area.. I also have a similar noise when I take sharp or fast turns. I have yet to find the source of the grinding sound.

My guess would also be a wheel bearing, though the CV joint is certainly a possibility. (That guess is partly based on having to replace a few wheel bearings on cars over the years but never a CV joint, which leads me to suspect they more frequently wear out, generally speaking.) Do as Black3sr suggests and jack the wheel off the ground and see if it has any play up/down/left/right or axially in and out. There should be none. Also try putting the car in neutral and rotating the wheel by hand; it should be smooth. If it feels like there's a slight sort of grinding or bumping as it turns, that's a reasonable sign of bearings going bad, too. (Don't be misled by things like transmission gear lash and so forth, nor of slight brake drag.)
It also might not hurt to check if by chance the plastic inner fender liner is bent or otherwise deformed and rubbing something. They can sometimes make a hellacious racket if they rub something they oughtn't.
