Carbon Fiber Hood with Hood Deflector

I happened to notice a moment when my carbon fiber hood was installed that the car felt very light and almost unstable in the front end, especially on highway and in corners, even with no wind pushing it was as if the front had no down force. Now after having installed the Honda Hood Deflector , instantly problem gone! Has anyone ever noticed an increase in control with this installed on their hood? Or am I the first guy to have done this combo? Raise your hands?

Would a CF hood really have that much effect on the front end? It's only a couple of pounds in savings IIRC.

But that's cool, a little hood deflector did the trick for you.

you are "thinking" too much. a carbonfiber hood will not cause those effects.

Did you recently jack the car up? seems like it simply took the srings a while to settle back down. they will feel "light" and sloppy right after being in the air

I'm curious why people replace their hoods with CF? Is it just for looks? CF is about 60% the density of aluminum and 20% of steel but it would have to be made much thicker than steel or aluminum in order to have the right stiffness and puncture resistance (CF is weak to tool drop or loads in its normal direction). When all is said and done I can only imagine saving a few lbs. The hood is not structural, it does not add to the unibody stiffness, it is just a cover. Also, by replacing your hood with CF you've lost the inherent folding design of the hood in case of a crash. You don't want your hood slicing through your windshield towards you when in a collision.
