new to me 07 fit locks don't stay locked
hey guys,
just picked up a 2007 fit with 97k miles from a dealer today. got home, auto lock button in driver door wasn't functioning (yes, my bad for not thinking to test this at the dealer) locked the car by using the key in the door. was
catching up with some
friends when I heard the doors unlock. sounded like it happened more than once but hard to say. I then re locked the car by pushing down all the locks. next time I came
outside the locks were open again. is there a fix? my new-to- me car has a manual trans.
I'm worried the doors are going to keep locking/unlocking all night and wear down the battery :/
thanks all.

Two thoughts come to mind:
1) Can you lock it with the key button? Maybe it's your key that's faulty and causing the car to lock/unlock.
2) Take it straight back to the dealer and make them check the electrical system (and watch them doing it). They can't legally sell a car with a major problem like that.

Most remote locking/unlocking keys will activate if they contact another hard object in the right way. Even in my pocket I will sometimes here the locks clicking because I leaned against a table or rolled over on my chair. Be glad once you're far enough away from the car it won't happen.

I agree with julianne: I think your key fob is the cause.

Always start with the simplest thing, Occam's Razor and all that.

Thanks Juliane. I went out this morning and as I feared the battery was dead. I actually don't care at all about power locks but I do care if the car stays locked and I obviously don't want the power locks to be messing with the battery. I removed fuse #28 to disable the power locks and I'm hoping that I can just have the option of manually locking my doors. I'll bring it to the dealer as well, but hoping the fuse is a quick fix that could help me avoid electrical work.

Oh, that sucks, something is definitely going haywire. Do you have an alarm system on it? Could that be part of the problem?
They shouldn't have given you the car if it was having that problem. I'd raise hell, but then I like to raise hell in any case.

If you have a key with a plastic upper and buttons to press to lock and unlock you have a key fob. Thought was was standard issue on Fits. If allyou have is the backup key somebody out there has a key to your car.
No thats not the original definition which referred to a ring with do tabs on it. Only old fuddy duddies know that. And do-tabs are the things other than keys on the ring, like Food Lion reads and minerature animals.
