Yesterday i put a deposit on a used Fit it is a 2006 model, 50,000miles and is a Japanese import (i am in Ireland). I previously had a Jazz when i lived in Australia, so i am really excited to get back into one.

I have the chassis number, but didn't write down the VIN. Are there any references online that i can look at to try and work out what exact model, level of spec and options it has? i know it is auto, 1.3 and has air con Silly question time, but do all the autos have the paddles? Just i can't remember seeing them and i can't tell from the photos?

It also has a fancy GPS system installed. Is there any way i can update this or make it work in Ireland? Finally, is there a way i can get an iphone connector of some sort installed?

 

fit being 1.3 and auto, means its most likely just a base model GD1. Prob wont have paddle shift.

When you say GPS, do you mean navigation unit or security system for GPS tracking?
if it is GPS tracker - you should be able to suss out your own simcard out for the GPS tracker, if it is navigational unit, then most likely not (if it is integrated anyway).

Iphone connector, will depend on what kind of integrated stereo system you have. there are a few different options. may help if you post up some photos?

 

I think it's a navigation unit. The stereo is integrated into it. I didn't get any photos yesterday so the only ones I have are from the ad...





I'm not too fussed about the paddle shifters - I never used them in my Jazz anyway, but it does help narrow down the exact model / spec I guess

its most likely a japanese unit, so maps probably wont be available for US.
and as confirmed, no paddles.

 

The car is a japanese import, so i'd say the console is japanese also. Sondef no way of updating maps? I'd be after irish ones, not US, but that probabky doesn't make a difference.

Any ideas on if i can put in a ipod/ iphone connector anywhere?

Finally can anyone direct me to a list of specs anywhere for the 2006 models, so i can see what air bags etc it has. I find it really frustrating that car makers don't have on their websites an archive of old brochures that outline everything. Makes it hard when shopping 2nd hand and trying to compare models.

Hi Mel and congrats on your new car! Funny to see you here, I was actually reading your post on boards few weeks ago as I had very similar questions about buying Jazz/Fit too .

I'm no expert by any means but did so much googling trying to figure out the differences between JDM and EU models that eventually came across some info. See if any of these links will help:

From this and Fit wiki site I understand that JDM models came with CVT-7 (and paddles) only for VTEC engines. i-DSI had an 'ordinary' CVT


On the GPS / FM system try googling 'Honda Internavi', maybe there is a way to upgrade a software but knowing how protective the dealers are of their GPS software I would look at learning some Japanese..
