Some questions, I'm about to start maintenance on GD.

Does a timing chain and tensioner have to be changed on the Fit?

In a few weeks I will be doing coil plugs, alternator, water pump and thermostat.

Timing chains don't usually need to be replaced. I would inspect the tensioner for excessive play, I am not sure what the spec is unfortunately.

No spec for the tensioner is listed in the manual.

and why are you replacing these? alternator, water pump and thermostat.

If they are working leave them alone. Maybe flush the cooling system?
