Hard time finding a JDM center console...

Howdy all.

I bought my new (to me) 2007 Honda Fit Sport in Augusta, GA on Labor Day. The vehicle is in very clean condition considering it's age. It also had just under 62,000... so, not terrible there. I was able to talk them down to $9,135 out the door, so not a great deal... but not terrible.

However, I have been annoyed by my Fit's broken manual transmission shifter knob (the padding simply isn't there... just the hard-plastic under-body), lack of arm rest, cargo cover, and "dead pedal." I've found that the shifter knob and cargo cover are still pretty easy to get a hold of (though over priced), I've found options for the dead pedal that weren't ridiculous, but I've been unable to find a JDM center console with arm rest to replace my current one without the price being insanely high (around $400 US).

My interior is black or charcoal fabric.

Does anyone know where I can find a JDM center console that will match my car without being insanely expensive?

So far, the only places I've found that carry it at all are:
A&J Racing :: Interior :: JDM Parts :: JDM Honda Armrest Console - Honda Fit 06-08 (GD3/GD4)
JDM Japanese Auto Parts specialists | japanparts.com

I've never modded a car before like... at all. So, this is all new to me. I just want a OEM center console for less than $300 that has everything fit properly.

JDMs are expensive and very hard to get BUT some of the common ones on epay and other sites aren't too bad. There are a bunch of threads on some of them.

Yeah... I've considered some of the third party arm rests, but would greatly prefer a JDM piece since it would match better / probably feel more sturdy and stable.

I've been checking out a number of the older threads, but lots of the data on where to get them is no longer valid

JDM centre consoles are easy to find. However, they will not be cheap. Roughly $200-300.

There are some JDM websites that sell them, such as password JDM. Do a google search, I did, and a lot of dealers came up, not cheap though. Hence why I'm holding out before I do my upgrade.

Also I have read on the board that if you do install the centre console and want to install a new ebrake boot, that some do not fit such as the Mugen one, it rubs too much between the console and brake lever.

Oddly enough I got mine directly from my Honda dealership. Paid the equivalent of about $140 at the time

WOW! How long ago was that brother?

I would have suggested the dealer, but I never do cause they generally rip you off. For example, they wanted $5 for a single bumper clip. I bought 20 OEM ones from China on Ebay for $3.50.

I've contacted one of the two Honda dealers in Columbia, SC... no dice though.

The JDM center consoles are not easy to find, based on around 8 hours of google searching, trying to find numbers, trying variants on search threads, and usually being able to find anything I want within a day. It is not available nor listed anywhere on password JDM's site. (that was one of the sites I eliminated in the first hour of searching... checked again... still not seeing it. if you have a direct link to the part, that'd be useful.)

I only found like three sites that listed themselves as selling the part... though I did find a few Chinese sites that wouldn't translate after getting a part number... though I don't even know if I have the right part number...

Where have you been able to find a center console for under $300? I've not found one for less than $400 US including shipping.

I'd like to stick with OEM parts... what other part numbers / parts would I need to get / change out if I were to install the JDM center console? To my knowledge, everything in my Fit is US stock.

Look at that poster's location... that's one of the reasons you won't find it in North America. It's a JDM center console. Quite often used ones pop up in the for sale section, I think just last week one came up (not sure if it sold yet). Scanning the forums classified is a great place to start.

Also, if I recall correctly I saw a post that they were discontinued (please correct me if I'm wrong), so any I'd double check the online store to make sure they're really in stock. This site says they're out of production as well ---> JDM GD3 Fit Armrest Console Kit w/ Adjustable Armrest

At this point, it's all about what you want. If you want a brand new OEM, start calling/emailing those sites and see show has it in stock (regardless of price).... or search/keep watching the classifieds for a used one to pop up.... or go with one of the cheapy ebay aftermarket ones.

I'd probably buy the one from japanparts (if its still in stock), with shipping from Japan It'll be less expensive than AJR.

Quite a while ago now, bout 4 years ago. Better times...

Some parts are a rip off directly from Honda/official channels, on the odd occasion it works out.
