Rough studder after shift

Hello,

I have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport with about 92k on it. It is a 5 speed and I bought it with 58k on it and it has ran smooth ever since. Yesterday I was driving and when i was going from 2nd gear to 3rd, or 3rd to 4ft etc. once i let me foot off of the clutch and was pressing down on the accelerator, it would almost act like the car was going to die. It really felt like it was chugging (the car actually shook) to get up to speed. Once i got past about 2500 RPM it ran fine. But every time i would need to start of from the lower gears, same problem. I have been driving a manual for a few years now and i have never experienced anything like this. Please respond with anything you think it might be and what you think i should do to fix this. Thanks in advanced, Sean.

Has the car ever had a valve adjustment? Have you checked the plugs? No check engine lights showing or codes thrown yet right?

Correct no check engine lights or codes. Would i get a light if the clutch was going bad?

I have the SAME issue, I posted in the DIY section...

I tried these situations:
Revving at idle to 3k, nothing
Revving while coasting to 3k, nothing
Revving while in gear in any gear at 3k, I get a crazy hesitation/vibrations, but the rev's keep going up...

Does this sound similar to your problem? I also have a 5sp manual 92000km...

I don't have the solution but just want to see if we are on the same page

We also believe your clutch is going; the fact you can do gear changes at upper rpms and apparently not at 'casual' gearshifts is the sign we see that the clutch surface is getting thin. If you can do quickj changes at lower rpm, aka drag race, and cannot do casual thatrs a good sign the clutch surface is worn out and you need to schedule a new clutch plate at least.
good luck..

Yup sounds like a clutch job is in the horizon for you OP. Don't know about these new cars but I don't think the CEL is triggered by a clutch going bad.

Usually by feel and sound much like worn brake pads are my indicators. In addition to driving habits and mileage being big factors as well. Just my take.

Coil packs

I've heard about this before and my car has started to develop the same issue. After the clutch pedal is all the way up (fully engaged) if i roll onto the power near to or under 2000 rpm the car will shake pretty violently. Other people on this forum have described it as a shutter and if you search for that you should find a very popular thread outlining some possible solutions. The top one seems to be a coil pack gone bad causing a random misfire which is alot cheaper than a clutch. So try looking into that first. Good luck!

I had the same problem. My CEL flashed but didn't stay on. I scanned it and there were misfire codes. I changed a couple coilpacks and the stuttering went away.
At first I thought it was the way I was letting the clutch out!

No Check Engine Light yet?
Find a road with a nice long incline, get to the point where the engine starts its stuttering and drive up the hill. Try and hold it stuttering for as long as you can and the CEL should start to flash. It will likely flash and then go out, leaving codes. You may already have codes stored though, an auto parts store should be able to scan them for you.
