Suspension options.....

I'm looking to get a little more performance out of my suspension without braking the bank, tried the search feature but didn't come up with much. I assume mine is a GD '08 base model since the newer ones have a bit more of an angular look. I've looked up eibach, tanabe, and some other brand comes up called B&G (never heard of them). I'd like something that will work with oem struts/shocks. I have stock wheels and am not sure if I will ever get aftermarket (upgrade), at least not in the near future. Question is, why are the suspension options so limited on the 1st gen Fits as opposed to the 2nd gen? What is so different about the suspension geometry? Any help would be great, or experiences with the mentioned products.

i had the progress springs and progress rear sway bar on my car. was very stable and responsive.
i also had falken azenis 205/50/15 tires on my stock sport wheels. helped hodl the road even better, although probably overkill for 100hp car. lol

progress rear swaybar and better tires will do more good than any other suspension mods you do. there just isn't a good suspension setup for our cars.

Thanks Nighthawk, looks like an enexpensive alternative to some of the other brands, funny that google doesn't even pull up Progress at all when searching for springs, I definately appreciate it.

Solbrothers, I've noticed that is a topic of great debate on these boards. I can understand the swaybar and tires for sure, my issue is with nose dive and other undesireable suspension characteristics from what seem like very soft springs on a lightweight car. Had some asshat recently pull out in front of me and I had to brake and swerve really hard, that's when I was really dissappointed in the stock handling. I'm not new to cars, previous car was a built lexus and I went through 2 different suspension setups, first was spring and shock combo, second was coilovers, both far superior to the stock setup. I'm curious as to why so many people on here say that changing the springs don't improve handling, I can understand the geometry aspect but lowering 1" shouldn't effect the geometry, unless the suspension only has 2" of travel.

most springs have very close to stock rates so all you'd do is reduce your ground clearance and decrease the useful life of your stock shocks.

I'd suggest coilovers but there isn't a reputable company out there that makes anything worth purchasing for our cars.

^ very true

If your going to replace the springs, the dampers also have to be changed.

The only performance dampers still on the market are expensive and being cleared out:

Just over $500 shipped

IF you really want springs that add performance over looks, try to find a set of the now out of production Swift Sport's. I run the above dampers and the swift springs in AutoX on my '08 and have great success. See pic in sig.

Just my .02

Thanks, that IS good info! Looks like I might just go with Progress, for springs and rear sway. Funny that thread didn't pop up when I searched for suspension mods.

I always try browsing through the specific forum topic "stickied" threads before I search if I have a general question.

The Fit will handle just fine once you have it dialed into your likening
