T-Boned & Totalled Fit, found Fixed & FOR SALE on Craigslist!!
21 December 2011, My VBP Sport 5MT Fit T-boned by a hit & run driver
Last night, while checking for used 5MT Fits on Craigslist, I came upon one that looked good to me. Thinking, "Hmmm, someone customized their Fit, almost just like I did", then upon closer inspection, I discovered that I was looking at MY totaled car!!, repaired and for sale for $10,600!!! & less than 10 miles away!

Yep. A 'Totalled" by your insurance company does not mean "totally destroyed". My wrecked GD3 had 17k in front end damage (not counting paint cost), but they still auctioned it off to someone for repair and resale. I expect to see it on the street someday. Wouldn't want to own it or drive it though.

[QUOTE=[B]"Nothing wrong with fixing and selling cars. He disclosed the rebuilt title. 10600 seems like a bit high though for a prior salvage."

I totally agree, in the past, I've bought a car back from insurance after payoff to repair myself. In fact, the body shop told me that structurally, the car was sound. It was the cost of replacing the 3 air bags & component panels that resulted in it being totaled. It was just the surprise of seeing a car I'd NEVER expected to see again!!!
Would I buy it?? At this stage, no....I've moved on to a 2012...but I don't know if I'll ever love it as I did the first!!

What the hell put that hole in the tire? Not a tear but a clean hole, looks like some industrial cookie cutter did a number.
Had a 1992 Honda Civic hatchback (oddly enought it was almost the same size as a 1st gen FIT). In 1999 got bumped at a stop light, lower half of split tailgate wouldn't work, still had collision, insurance company, "totaled" the car. Cut me a check for used value $3k, kept the car. I just put up with having half a tailgate working, till I sold it 3 years later 10yrs/198,000miles. Only change was insurance company wouldn't let me keep collision coverage on it.
