New Fit Owner

Hello all, my name is Tom (big surprise) and I'm new to the whole Honda scene. My wife and I just purchased a red 2007 Fit sport (it's hers really, but I drive it sometimes) with about 85,000 miles on it for $9,500. We had a stuttering issue at first, but the dealership warranty covered it (turned out to be a faulty ignition coil), and we've had no issues since. My wife absolutely loves the car, and I am fairly impressed as well. We have been using it lately to move and have had zero issues packing huge amounts of utter crap into the back of it.

I can be a bit of a post whore, so I decided I had better join a few Fit forums and see what everyone else in the Honda Fit world thinks of/is doing with their cars.

I will have some pics in the near future, but for now just close your eyes and imagine a bone stock red 2007 Fit Sport, and you're really close.

Welcome. Hope you'll love your Fit as much as I do mine. I've crammed couches, xmas trees, lumber, etc. in my Fit. Recently, my daughter and her boyfriend were struggling putting their mountain bikes in the back of my '06 CRV; I told them to use the Fit instead -- they laughed, but the bikes fit right in. BTW, the coil pack issue is well-known; you'll find various threads on that. They're practically considered maintenance items.

Good to know about the coil packs! We are loving the Fit, its very roomy, but tiny on the outside, zippy enough to be enjoyable to drive, and classy enough for our young family. We've crammed all kinds of things into it (giggidy) and haven't had a problem with it yet, we call it the mini-mini-van. This Feb we will be taking it on a road trip from NJ to FLA for a week and back. Anything we should look into doing to it to prepare for the drive??

Hello OTECT, as you I'm new to this forum. I live in Miami, I take allot of raod trips with family in our Mazda 5. For the Fit I suggest. trying to avoid adding extra luggage on the roof. To much wind resistance for a small engine. You will notice car struggling specially when you get into the hills.

Buy a rear 1/4 inch hitch. The get a rear cargo basket. The also get rain proof 11 cubic ft bag. To fit basket. The idea is to place everything in the rear. No wind resistance. Also by having a hitch already on the car. You can always buy a bike rack later on. You can place camping gear..etc.. Yes car may sag some in the rear. But well worth it. Now if you want no sag and support the rear. Also willing to spend a little more money on top of what I’m already suggesting. Google spring airbags or Air shocks for the FIT. I was able to get airbags that go inside the rear springs no warranty issues. You inject air into them as you would your tires. This supports the rear suspension, braking and no sagging. I’m placing a rear hitch on Fit Sport soon.
Bike carrier and also I have a small trailer I can landscaping stuff to the dump. I have 20 palm trees on my property. So that’s allot of Palm prongs..etc. Do not go to small on basket. Do not be scared to get one that with the with of the entire length of your rear bumper. Please remember if you go this route.. Buy rear cargo cage with an up left of ground. Go to Etrailer. I spent in total around $500.00 that’s with install and install of my rear spring airbags. Oh the airbags made no difference in ride quality.
I TRIED to get a pic in here, can't figure it out?

Jesse from Miami.
