adding hitch/trailer, need to beef up suspension

i haul a lot of heavy building materials in my 07 fit and my back end tends to sag. decided to add a hitch and just use a trailer from now on. i bought these springs but aren't sure they'll even fit. it says they're 14" long. does anybody know what the height of an uncompressed stock rear spring is? also, should i be replacing the rear shocks as well? saw the DIY post about monroe rear air shocks. seems like everybody suggests staying away from air shocks. has anyone replaced the rear suspension for the sake of towing (and not performance handling)? what springs/shocks did you use? thanks in advance.

Get a truck dude. This car ain't safe on the road with 200lbs of chicken feed in the back much less a trailer and load. Nothing back there but reshaped beer cans to attach a hitch too. You crazy.

I've got a Curt hitch on my 2010 and haul a 4x6 home made utility trailer.
I've hauled 450# of shelving units w/ no issue.

Trick is to minimize the tongue weight.
I kept mine under 50lbs and saw no issue on stock set-up.

You can search 'trailer' and find stuff.

Here's one thread: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/eco-...-2010-fit.html

All cautions of hauling w/ a small class car apply.

OP you don't need to beef up the suspension. do like ^ says and load the trailer correctly

i have to testify that the monroe air shocks have made a HUGE difference in handling. that has to be the best $47.53 i ever spent (amazon.com). kudos to manxman for his DIY instructions.

car handles like a dream. good god. with no load in the trunk and pumped up to 20psi, the jumper cables and other junk i have in the spare tire well bang around a little bit going over bumps, so i might try 15psi for normal driving.

after 15-minute test drive with plenty of lateral acceleration, height of the rear tire wells are at 25". they were at 24.5" before the mod. i initially pumped it up to about 50psi and it was jacked up to about 26", perfect for my new hitch/ball/trailer getup. the ball mount was a little shy of the 7" rise needed, so the ability to pump it up to level the trailer will be nice. will report back once my mount and ball arrive.
