The manual says new belts to apply 22 1b f between crank pulley and A/C, the flexion should measure 0.14inc tp 0.20 in on the honda tool # 07JGG-0010100 Does anyone have good sugestions? I do not want to have bad barrings because of too tight of a belt. thank you
If I would be using genuine Honda part, I would simply scribe around outline of the nut on the alternator bracket, then adjust the tension until my scribe marks are matching. This will not work if aftermarket belt is used due to the different length or elasticity of it. At this time it is a great idea to replace idler pulley (its bearing has a HUGE radial play after 60,000 miles). I could speculate that this pulley is used as a "fuse link" to save other bearings form damage

Or, you could tighten the tensioner nut just to the CLEAN area of the threads...that is what I did. (Verified with the twist method, of course.)

BE CAREFUL if you buy an aftermarket pulley. Many of them are crap.

I rejected two before buying, and I still needed to shim the one I finally bought. The pulley rubbed on the arm because of excessive end-play.

Until car is over 15 years old I stick with OEM (this is why I am driving budget cars, except my 79 Supra but this was a different story
The rule is if OEM part is bad, the aftermarket will be worse!
Have seen this with aftermarket wheel bearings (this is why I am only doing a swap for good used steering knuckle assembly, especially if car saw better days in the past)
