Question Sound system help!

Ok, I'm interested in getting a sound system for around 800-900 including install. I need details on what sounds best in a fit, and what all I need to get! I don't want it to be so powerful that it sounds bad when it's cranked up. Give me your opinion on what I need! Thanks!

"sounds best" is strictly a matter of individual opinion. As everyone likes their own qualities when it comes to music. Me for instance. I have to have bass. I can't stand flat music at all. It has to have a little bump.

You need a head unit for starts. The stock HU has a built in equalizer that really messes with the way stuff sounds. Depending on how much you're going to push it you may need speakers. I went with a subwoofer since the speakers were plenty loud enough. Sub in a small car means you don't need huge to be loud. My 12" makes my house shake when I pull into the driveway if I have it turned up to 30. 40 will make pictures fall off the walls. I'll probably move to a 8" or 10" shortly to get some space and weight back.

Check out the I.C.E threads. There are plenty of examples of things people have done.

Good luck

How in depth in the install do you want to go? I just joined because I am going to post a build log on my sound system install when I get started.

Mine will be pretty intensive because of how long I have been in audio and my preference of high quality sound reproduction. My home theater audio setup was about $4k itself, so I have pretty high expectations. My audio system in my car will consist of a 3 way active front with a 12" subwoofer in a glassed box in the hatch.

I can help you pick out some gear if you want. There are a LOT of very high quality internet brands I bet most people have never heard of that are much more wallet friendly than many mainstream brands.

I don't think it's worth it since Honda leaves you hardly any space to stick amps or speakers. It's so tight I can't even stick my amps next to the spare tire, as I did in my 1994 Sentra SE-R

Replace your headunit with a good one and you will be so happy you won't worry about subs/speakers. that's where im at. the OEM headunit is garbage

I feel that on stripped down music(Dub, acoustic etc..) the OEM sounds good but with music with lots of guitar distortion it sounds bad!

do you have a good aftermarket headunit? it's night and day difference between that and the low quality stock headunit
