Shift knob help.

I have searched the forum and have yet to find anything that really answers my question. For those of us that live in places that have seasonal extremes a metal shift knob is not practical. It will either act like a branding iron and burn the gear pattern in to your palm, or it will freeze to your hand ala A Christmas Story. What I am looking for is a white resin ball shift knob. I do not want the Razo because...well I don't. I thought the Mr. Gasket might work but the thread pitch is incorrect. Is there something out there that you guys can think of that might be affordable? Like less than $40 affordable...its a shift knob purely for dressup. Any help would be much appreciated.

On a side note, that would be a pretty cool branding.

I like it, but I would use it as a last resort seeing as its a little more expensive than I would like, and the shape isn't ideal. Ideally I would like to get a ball, like a cueball but smaller.

I like a heavy shift knob personally. Feels good and solid. You can get a metal knob with some shift knob beanies to keep it warm on cold days and cool on warm days

Custom Handmade Shift Knob cover $5 Shipped - Club RSX Message Board

^^ example something like that.

the stock RX8 shift knob uses a soft rubberized plastic on the top of the shift knob. if you wanted to you could use a razorblade to take it off or re-upholster the whole thing in one-piece leather.

however, the thread pattern is not the same. i just traded my 05 RX8 in for an 08 Fit Sport and grabbed the Voodoo shift knob out of it. it screws on for one or two threads and that's it. i'm sure that it's either the wrong size or thread pitch, but it's on solid enough to work. i may eventually replace it but i'm not sure.

the pitch is certainly not right... you should send your shift knob to Chris Mattessich from WC lathe werks, he'll make it fit!

the voodoo is countersunk, too, so it's lower than stock. i was thinking of picking up something taller cause i have to use my fingers to shift now instead of the palm of my hand. it's not a problem really, but i'd prefer something taller.

that is indeed very cool and looks like excellent craftsmanship. i'd like not to spend that much, however. but thanks for the link!
