Issues (mechanical and maintenance) I've experienced with my Jazz
Thought I'd let you all know what sorta issues I've experienced over 4 years of ownership and hard driving:
Brakes- OEM pads and discs don't last, my pads were finished at the first service (15 000km's). Discs were warped by the time the 2nd service interval came around (30 000km's).
Solution- Replaced with Powerbrake (www.powerbrake.co.za) slotted discs and Bendix Ultimate pads at 45 000km's. Lasting well so far. Cost +-$500 fitted
Tyre's- Bridgestone Potenza 185/55/15's lasted to 50 000km's. Very impressed IMO.
Solution- Replaced with Michelin Energy 195/50/15's for daily driving. Lasting more than 50 000km's thus far. Federal 595 RS-R 205/50/15's fitted to a spare set of rims for trackdays. Cost +-$750 for rims and tyres
More recently issues around the 100 000km mark have been:
Leaking Oil- Problem was the the breather filter on my Mishimoto intake, clogged up without showing visible signs of build up and despite washing the filter it remainded largely unuseable. This resulted in a build up of oil pressure which forced oil through the oil filter and damaging the seal on the oil pressure sensor.
Solution- New breather filter, oil sensor and oil filter. No more oil leaking.
Gearbox/engine mounting- A knocking sound presented during gearshifts, over bumps and pulling away from stops.
Solution- New OEM gearbox/engine mounting.
Cost +-$360 gearbox mounting, oil filter, oil pressure sensor and fitment.
Wheel Bearings- A distinct hum from my rear right wheel is a clear sign the wheel bearing close to the end of its life cycle. Replacing both rear bearings next week.
Solution- 2 new OEM wheel bearings. No aftermarket options available.
Cost +-$571 including fitment
Note: All fitment and parts have been sourced/done through Honda apart from the tyre's, rims and intake mentioned.
Current mileage is close to the 101 000km or 63 000mile mark.
