Is The OBD Port . . .

. . . supposed to have a cover on it? Like a cap to keep the dust out?

Thanks.

My Fit has an expensive aftermarket OBDII cover. It's called a Scan Gage II connector/cable. haha

Well that was the year when I bought it. haha

The Fit is the third car I've installed it in. I use it more for voltage and water temperature monitoring than anything else. Saved my bacon twice on previous cars. Early warning of alternator and water pump failures is good.

I'd like to know more about your experience with that.

Is your engine stock? What water temps you run at normal? At what temp does the radiator fan come on? How could you foresee a water pump failure?

Thanks!

Stock engine with a drop in K&N air filter.
Normal water temp once fully warmed up is 184 degrees F.
I don't know yet when fan turns on, thus far since owning I've been on A/C 95% of the time so fan always on.

My last car had a heavily buffered water temp gage. It was a glorified idiot light only telling you once you were already at extreme over temperature. Scan gage normal temp on that car was 206 degrees and did not vary much from that under any condition, + 2 degrees. So when my scan gage hit 210 degrees I knew something was up, dash gage still showing normal temp at that point.

So on the Fit any temperature over 184 degrees would have me constantly monitoring the gage and pulling over before exteme overheating and subsequent damage occurred.
