you would think we would have the most.... because we got all that highway.. AND money to spend to on roads and gas to go drive a bunch.

Thanks to couriers like this I can pick up a well maintained GD3 in a couple years for cheap and then pull the tired but well maintained engine for a K20
Since it seems a lot of what makes turbo/SC setups more desirable over K20 swaps is that most owners have bought it used around resale/market value or new, around MSRP, and the K20 swap is inherently more expensive than bolt on forced induction...
Let me know what you want for it when you hit the 400K mark!

He is refering to the fact that the rest of the world saw the fit since 2001. putting that many miles on a 10 year old fit seems more reasonable than putting that on a 3 year old fit.

I just rolled over 102k on my 2008 Fit. I have been using it multiple times a month to make a 800-1000 mile round trip to go cave diving. I load her up with diving gear for one or two people, usually 4-8 scuba tanks each weighing 50 pounds, along with 200 pounds of other stuff like clothes, drysuits, etc. Add another person in the front seat, cruising slightly over 70mph 350miles one way, and I get 35mpg on average. Some trips have done better, around 38. I let the passenger drive once, she went more like 80-85, and we got 28mpg...
This car is amazing.
I am worried that the clutch is slowly dying...seems very picky about shifting, and even though I grew up driving a stick, and have owned this car for 8 months, I still struggle to get it to shift smoothly. It seems to engage the clutch near the very end of the pedal....on the side far from the flooboard, so I don't have to push in very far to shift, less than halfway, and the total shifting distance isn't very long. I don't know much about clutches and how they wear out, because I've never worn out a clutch...
The tires and brakes haven't been changed since I bought the car. No clue how the brakes are looking but they still stop the car, and the tires will probably need to be changed this year but they have worn pretty well. Rotated tires once, all oil changes done myself with synthetics, either Pennzoil or Mobil1, and one MT fluid change done by a shop.

As anyone can say.. yes this is an accomplishment, but yet again he got to this point because he followed maintenance. Most people think they are doing things write but i seen people change oil every 30k miles cause ohh its synthetic. SMH.... We know hondas to be reliable and with the proper care that car will keep going and going...

Wow, good job man! I just hit 23k miles on my 2008 Fit Sport and i'm looking forward to using it for a long while. Would you be so kind to, as many have already asked, explain your maintenance regimen? Thanks.

I like how you did the cost of ownership being $.xx cents per mile. I just calculated on my previous vehicle and the fact that i didn't drive it too much and the depreciation of 4 years made the cost of ownership skyrocket. Im going to try and drive my car more to get the most out of the ownership

Jeez, that is awesome.
I have 142k on my 2007 and the only thing I have had to do outside of normal maintenance was an alternator.
I started to hear a bit of a rattle when shifting and was worried it was my transmission (it's a 5 speed) but it turned out to be the heat shield for the Cat...a $5 clamp and it is good to go.
Still running like the day it was new. I will work on catching up to you, but right now I am racking up miles on my Element because of our weather.

Sorry, I didn't realize so many people were replying to this. Guess I have to change my notification settings.
91 octane, Mobile 1 0W-20 every 7K or so, filter every other change, rotate tires when I change the oil. K&N Typhoon, cleaned out every 20K or so...
That's it.
I actually neglect the crap out of the tranny. I've replaced the gear oil like 4 times, that's it.
As far as the suspension, no noise, no sag, no problems at all. I get that heatshield noise too, but I'm not bothering to fix it. It's not too bad. One of the bushings on one of the motor mounts is toast, but it has been for the last 100k. Not like it's causing any problems, and I'd rather not spend $400 to get it switched out.
As far as comfort? It's not the most comfortable thing, but not the least. I do yoga when I'm not driving, so I'm fine.
And as far as selling the TDI for $5700 with 315k on it? It's a cult car. People are nuts when it comes to those.
I might be selling this for a Dodge Sprinter soon. My small item work is drying up. So yeah, whoever wants to give me $5k for a 2007 Fit Sport with 300k on it, feel free to make an offer.
Oh, and I'm not taking out seats and changing out wheels to save an mpg. It's my personal car, too, for one thing. And with the cross-winds on I10 between Tucson and Phoenix, I need all the weight I can get.
Mauler: You're a courier too, yeah? Where?

My 2007 model year (actually built april/06) has 96k on it now, i've been following the maintance minder more or less and havent had any problems, although the usual fair amount of grousing at the cost of the "inspections" which IMO shouldent be needed until 100k+ than they seem to be a little on the frequent side to boot. Does the maintance minder for your a/b 1,2,3 remain on for the life of the car? I seem to recall that it shuts off after 100k.
