They're not junk, Webasto makes a great product... but don't forget that you're doing a hole in your roof... so yes its bound to perhaps bring some problems... I would'nt do it, but only because i don't see sunroofs as such a great addition, some people love to have this on their car...

Hey, you live in Oregon. So please post if you do ever get one aftermarket. I've investigated locally but just could not bring myself to having someone cut a big hole in my new car. Once I'm past warranty...and maybe I'm getting bored? I might take the risk. But for now, despite assurances from installers that they can do it, and it will be wonderful? I just couldn't do it....
I think in a couple years, I probably won't care as much if The Fit develops a few squeaks...but for now? The risk vs. reward of a Moonroof, which I would really like, vs. potential problems of noise and leaks...is a gamble I'm afraid to take.

I'm Not Missing It
I had moonroofs on my last 2 cars and really thought a moonroof was a "must have." But I decided not to get one for my Honda Fit - just didn't want to go through the expense. After almost 3 months of driving my car, I really don't miss it. The front windshield is so high and wide and with the cutouts on the sides, I'm getting all the light into the car that I need. And the car really gets warm on a sunny day. I'm just as happy that the a/c doesn't have to compete with the windshield and a moonroof.

I had a TVS from Webasto installed two years ago on my GD3. It cost me about $1500. Webasto will NOT allow anyone to sell their product in kit form, you have to let "their" installers do the work. No problem from extra heat - on those days, I just close the interior shade. The thing I don't like is the crappy "soft" headliner I ended up with - but then again, there may be a reason I paid less at this particular installer. It hasn't bugged me enough to spend any time or effort on redoing.
Webasto makes many OEM sun / moon roof systems - they build their products to reinforce the area cut out of the roof panel. Final strength is going to depend on the installer and exactly how they slice and dice the roof ribs.

I have to agree with morjoie. The Fit gets more light inside than my old Subie with the sunroof.

Well as stated above, I'd like a moonroof.
I did do some investigating. One Installer told me that the Moonroof would be "chemically bonded" with my vehicle...
Which sounded real nice...then I went home and thought about it. Chemically Bonded? He means glued....
I don't know, as much as I'd like one? Cutting a hole in the roof and gluing in a moonroof?....I wish we had more feedback from people brave enough to do it. Or that Honda would offer a factory installed option in the US.
