2007 Fit - Defective Locks!!! Absolutely NO response from Honda!
I just had to pay TWELVE HUNDRED BUCKS to replace the ignition switch & door locks on a 2007 Fit that was 48 months old.
The driver door lock & ignition locks became balky after around 28 months. I lubricated them. They were OK for a few months then the problem reoccured. The passenger door lock failed completely early this year. Last week the ignition lock failed and the car had to be towed to Honda.
The dealer did not seem surprised or interested in why 3 out of 4 locks failed after less than 4 years. Both the dealer & Honda claim these locks require no lubrication or maintenance. Honda will not say why the locks failed. The dealer seems to treat it as a normal wear item.
Honda essentially told me that they build cars to last only 3 years. Any problems due to manufacturing or design after the warranty period are not their problem. My last few cars have been Honda. I will likely never buy another. Other manufacturers seem to be more willing to stand behind their cars and build them to last more than a few years.

I only lubricated them because I had to be able to insert the key.
Had I not, I would of had to replace them much earlier. Which would
have been better as they would of been under warranty.
I used both WD-40 & graphite. One of my peeves is that Honda will
not provide info about what to lubricate them with.
