Stock Air Intake Diagram
#2
the intake is very basic.
air comes into the fender behind the drivers headlight. goes thougha short rubber tube, into teh airbox, makes a 90 degree turn back towards the firewall, another 90 degree turn (left) past the air intake temp sensor, and then connects to the throttle body.
whats the issue your trying to diagnose? since there is no MAF sensor, there are very few issues that can come from the intake system on this car.

Thanks for the prompt reply. You've confirmed my thought in how it flowed.
I was actually having an issue with the flow of cabin air. Typically, the cabin airflow gets stronger when recirc is selected. For a while, the cabin air flow actually got weaker when I selected recirc.
I discovered (when I was on Long Island this weekend actually) that somehow the airflow from the fender intake to the filterbox was disrupted because the hosepipe had become disconnected. (I recently had the tranny fluid changed and believe it was disconnected during the job) I reconnected this and it seems that the recirc/fresh air issue has been corrected. I'm trying to figure out exactly why this would be though as the two systems seem to be exclusive. I also thought that cabin air circulation would originate from the cowl above the hood.

the rubber hose your refering to did not have any relation to your climate controls. and actually, i have ran my car for thousands of miles without it, and it has no effect on the engine either. its simply there to get slightly colder air into the engine.
iv neever messsed witht he cabin air intake, but i assume the same. it will be near the cowl at the passenger side.
